We were more than the sum of our parts last season. All it takes is for a few to rest on their laurels and decide that they can coast from here and the entire team is in trouble. And that's what we're seeing, Schmeichel is doing a cracking impression of Davy Crockett at the moment, but the rest are just sort of there. Your argument about it not being common place with midtable sides not pushing on etc is nonsense - last season was far more draining than anyone will have experienced, in terms of the pressure and the reward compared to what was expected, and even then personality plays a massive part. Some have the hunger after winning once and want more, so far it looks like the only one of that side that had that winning personality was Kante.

I find it funny how you reference my mid table team players accepting complacency due to no ambition as nonsense but a collective group of 20 players who 8 months ago won the league mentally accept the position they are currently in as reasonable.

I find it hard to believe that Kante is the only player who had a winning mentality - this is all hyperthetical that we are discussing but what if we use CR as an example rather than blaming the players? He has constantly down played our title win and speaks of good performances, how do we not know that this talk doesn't effect the players as they can probably and hopefully see themselves the performances isn't good enough and although the downplaying 40 points worked last season when everything was going for us, maybe these players need an arm around them telling them they are better etc which I'm guessing they used to get from Pearson and Walshy?

They are a disgrace. They have clearly stabbed him in the back and you can see people like Vardy leading the revolt. Bellend

very hard to like Vardy now.

Carragher can't believe the players have the nerve to do it. They all seem to be supporting Ranieri and putting blame on the players' egos and efforts.

I thought we didn't look bad up until they scored... Two quick goals in succession just killed the game. Time and again I'm shocked and saddened to see so many of our players being faint shadows of their last seasons' selves. It's puzzling and worrying that our new boy Ndidi looks like our best player now and sets example for the title winners. We could carry one or two out of form players but if there's majority of them, it's like accident waiting to happen...

We can change our driver... But can we fix at least some of the broken parts? That's the real question

It's getting desperate now. Swansea game is an absolute moose win

Moose win.

Sigh. I'm so upset with this team. Wish I knew exactly where the problem lies but it just seems we can't keep up with the Prem league anymore. It sucks to admit but the level of play from the players deduces as much.

Just seen the goals. Laughing my arse off. Our defence are getting worse by the week. Shambles!!

No mention of others (Shinji and Danny Drinkwater) playing hopeful balls into the air and giving possession away needlessly. Or NDidi's misjudged attempt to win an aerial ball when he'd have been better not to have committed at all.

That said there's lots I like about NDidi and he was perhaps our best 90 minute outfield player overall.

And Drinky wasn't all bad either.

Sadly though we had three virtual passengers in Mahrez, Musa and Shinji by midway through the first half. It wasn't that they weren't trying just that nothing came off and they squandered possession so easily.

Ranieri, if he's still not been thanked for his services, needs to introduce conditioned football in training whereby no-one is allowed to pass the ball in the air from their own half.

We offered 35 minutes of real effort today in trying to match united but, in the end, they ran us to a standstill because they passed the ball constantly with one and two touches while we took too many touches or lofted the ball into the air. The other differences were United's movement and patience.

I watched one cameo in particular and they had eight players moving into different positions to receive the ball while we had little movement at all. And even if United were in a good attacking position they still refused to pass the ball hopefully into space, but played the ball back a bit, but precisely, and showed the calmness to start again. In the end it was their passing which left us exhausted and demoralised...and their ruthless finishing which gave them all the advantages of time and space.

That said Mata should have been sent off no question. Their near-neighbours on the TV commentary wouldn't admit it but it was a dangerous, reactionary, over the top tackle that was totally indefensible.

Another "Nil" didn't help. We won a good few corners and created a few half-chances but didn't vaguelly look like scoring. Constant "nils" sap confidence and it wasn't Ranieri's fault - he tried hard enough to set us up in an attacking manner but not cleverly enough.

Shinji's inclusion means there's no direct support or partnership potential for Vardy who's struggling enough to find space as it is because he doesn't seem to have anything like the energy of last season.

But even as a supplementary midfielder today Shinji was an energetic disappointment. even when he got the ball he gave it away.

With Musa and Mahrez doing the same and our defenders lacking the confidence to do anything under pressure but sky their clearances with the inevitable outcome, the pressure was bound to tell in the end and more so once they'd scored.

Fully expecting to get shouted down, but if you'd asked me 2 years ago would I take the situation we're in now to win the league last year I would have taken it. And I would again.

Interesting quotes from Schmeichel after the game on  Sky

Strong words from Leicester keeper Kasper Schemichel, who says everyone at the club needs to "stand up and be counted" otherwise they are going down. He tells Sky Sports: "First 40 minutes we played OK then after that unacceptable. It is not good enough and sums our season up at the moment.

"Let's not talk about last season. It's gone. We need to stand up and be counted. There are a lot of factors that go into it but this season has not been good right from the start.

"I am not commentating on newspaper speculation. I know what is going on in the dressing room, we are a group of players low on confidence but not low on fight. It is not a comfortable situation. It has been terrible, embarrassing.

"It is time for each one of us - from the top to the bottom of this club - to be counted. If we don't we will be relegated."

And he's spot on.

Same old, same old.

Reminded me exactly of the Chelsea game, we started well enough, the players actually put in some decent effort, but then they scored and we capitulated. Yet again the second half performance was a disgrace, outclassed and Man Utd picked us off at will, they could of easily scored about seven. N'Didi looked like the only one who wanted to be out there, defensively we was yet again shocking, our three key players in Drinkwater, Mahrez & Vardy were yet again a disgrace.

After the first goal the effort, desire and fight was nowhere to be seen again. Players are to blame, Claudio is to blame, after the match he yet again says the same ridiculous things, fight this fight that but we the fans are seeing no fight from the players. Keeping him is a gamble, sacking him is a gamble but I've lost all faith in him right now, we need a motivator, Ranieri isn't a motivator.

Ndidi was the shining light in the darkness. Gray offered some trickery (why did Musa start ahead of him).

Sad to see the likes of Vardy and Drinky just prancing around, without any real effort. For the second goal, last year Drinky would have been there to intercept the cross, but this year he jogs back and lets Ibra score.

This is such a poor league. Burnley have Boyd in their starting line up, someone who I saw playing for Peterborough and thinking he wasn't good enough for league one! Look at West Brom and Bournemouth for god's sake. The fact that we have been so bad, and yet are above the relegation zone, only emphasises my point.

With the investment in players (net £30m or so), the owners would have been expecting at the very least a top ten finish and not a relegation battle.

I think that a change in Manager is required, otherwise the nightmare will be upon us. Just look at what that has done for Hull and Swansea.

What I take from kaspers comments is that we should have let Vardy and Mahrez go.

Mufc are looking like a top four team - with some great players.  That said there are things we can learn from today and - if we are to avoid the drop - we must take these expensive lessions pn board.

WE when we sat back,  utd came forward in the first half and left lots of space.  Out out ball to Vardy is supposed to be into space (over the op or thread thur) - not an aerial ball he has to  challenge.  All in all there was too much hoof ball today and even hoofheaders - we are better to get it down.

Similarly we should pay it our form the back - nit hoof it.

IMO shinji is key -  he comes short and allows us to pass it thru their back line.

Musa had a good game too - the starting 11 were ok - but we cannot creat chances trying to out head man utd.

I would bench Vardy for slimani  if isalm is fit - Vardy has too much going on in his life

kaspar - great speech - but he has to  come off his line... when Wes is ourrun he must go and challenge and let othgers cover.

WE can not fix Wes and Huff right now - so we need to get off theri backs.

Claudio needs to get the psychologist back - other wise, he is our best hope of beating this.   Call for his head are crazy.

I think I would agree, but winning the league doesn't excuse anything.

How many of these players are going to be sitting on the phone to their agents tonight rather than concentrating on keeping us in the league

My guess is quite a few
