You didn't say we were fine, but you were wrong in that we had dropped into the bottom three before the Liverpool game having lost our last five league games. And most on here, rightly in my view, felt we were doomed and with good reason in light of the play and results. I think fans want to see some reasonable signings to strengthen in view of the pre-season failures last year when champions. No-one is expecting Messi. FWIW, I think we will be ok with another couple of good players coming in. I had said at the end of a completed round of games we hadn't been in the bottom 3. Liverpool was Monday night and the last game of the round. Hence,If all games that weekend kicked off at 3pm Saturday afternoon we would never have been in the bottom 3.rfr I tarke the point on we were playing some woeful football, but so were Sunderland, Boro, Hull, Palace fand Swansea. We were in massive danger but far from certainties for the drop. The Messi point was obviously an exaggerated example, but people on here do tend to lose their shit easily. I think you are right bring in a number 10 and another decent player or two, not lose anyone and we will be fine.
Mr Mister Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Unfair to call him a flop considering he only played one game and missed the rest of the season due to injury.

If we want to be topsix we have to bring in players with that quality. To be clear we already have some. .. but we need more. Players who cannot help with that are diversions Agreed ?

I think a fair few of us were expecting Claudio to turn it around. And how could you not considering the amount of games remaining at the time and his proven ability as manager. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we would have picked up enough points to stay up, regardless of whether the players were putting in 100% or not. The ray of hope I thought was that on the sidelines he was actively telling the players to keep it on the deck showing that our horrid performances weren't 100% his fault, they were playing like twats. He also said after Millwall it's time for drastic changes which would have sidelined underperformers, although admittedly he bottled the changes for the Sevilla game, or he didn't trust the second choice players for a game of that magnitude. I think it's just a bit unfair to say we were definitely going down with Claudio. It does a disservice to the bloke who helped bring us something great, it's disrespectful, it defies his ability and it absolves all blame of everyone else for our predicament. No one can say for definite. All you can go on were the signs: No plan Players being played out of position Rumblings of discontent Bizarre signings..eg. Wague Conceding goals Not scoring goals Not looking like scoring goals Etc.. it's my belief if we would have done what many said we should do i.e. Keep Ranners...we'd have been starting our campaign this season in the Championship. It never ceases to amaze me, some of the stuff I read on the net. None more so than posters on here actually saying they'd rather get relegated and keep Ranieri, than sack him. That, I didn't get then and still don't now.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Ok, this thread was either set up by Wague himself, his agent, or a blatent wind up merchant. No one can hold this opinion in all seriousness.
