Iborra and Simpson get 7's.

Gray and Fuchs 5's.

Everyone else 6.

Very disappointed at how negative we were second half.

Agree.

I'd put Schmeichel as a 5 though.

Mahrez 3 Worst player on the pitch. Worst performance of the season. Missing simple passes, searching for the Hollywood goal and not playing his team mates in.

he wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be

he literally misplaced 8 passes the whole time he was playing, iborra, marc and simmo misplaced 9, n'didi and gray misplaced 8.

he was only disposesd once compared to gray's 4, iborra and n'didi both 2 times and fuchs once.

he attempted 3 dribbles, and he was successful in 3 (100%), compared to gray who was 3 of 7 (43%) and albrighton who was 1 of 4 (25%).

Those stats are quite misleading.

Yes he misplaced one pass less than Iborra, but he played for less time and completed far less passes. His pass completion rate, compared to those you mentioned was 70% vs. 84% (Iborra), 83% (Ndidi), 76% (Albrighton), 84% (Simpson) and 71% (Gray, who was also very poor, by the way).

I acknowledge your observations about dispossessions and dribbles but they're hardly emphatic. There are other stats you could look towards - for instance if you look at midfield Ndidi made ten tackles (three successful), one interception, one block and four clearances. Iborra four tackles (three successful) and six clearances. Albrighton seven tackles (two successful), one interception, three clearances. Even Gray made two tackles (one successful), four clearances and four blocks, not to mention having more take ons than Mahrez.

By contrast, Mahrez made one clearance and one block. Now I'm not sure I'd read too much into that (he's played for what he offers going forward), but it demonstrates that you can pick and choose your stats and, on balance, they don't look especially good for Mahrez. Indeed, if we're to compare him to the rest of the midfield, he offered far less defensively, poorer distribution and not enough on the front foot to compensate for the aforementioned.

Stats only tell a portion of any story. If they send a clear message about a player then they may make you question a prior judgement, but these stats don't send clear enough a message to strengthen Mahrez's defence. If anything, it's the opposite.

Perhaps it's just me, but for some reason Kasper suddenly seems to look smaller.

I think that might be because one of his knees is both the same.....lol
