Dissertation help!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am currently a 3rd year student at the University of Leicester, after your help with my dissertation- I am researching the effect of terrorism on football fans, when they are in and around the stadium.

The survey (in the link below), will only take a couple of minutes and your responses would be much appreciated if you have the time.

Thank you

You wore shin pads to protect yourself from the IRA? ???

I was 12 and my dad made me do it! It was in case of a panic for the exits to protect my shins from the seats. I think there'd been a bombing a couple of weeks before and they'd been quite active back in 1996. Climate of fear innit.

Wasn't the final the same weekend as the Grand National which was abandoned because of the IRA bomb scare? Or might have been close to it anyhow.

All joking apart though, it does bother me that a football match could be a target. I don't think it would be in the stadium, but leaving the stadium (like at the Manchester arena), would be a soft target, as would a vehicle attack on crowds dispersing from a football match. So, yeah, it does sit at the back of my mind, especially as I have my kids with me.

That rings a bell! Definitely something to do with the Grand National I think.
