It's up to younger generations than me to make sure that some sort of atmosphere continues, I've done my bit over the years, Unfortunately I don't think the younger fans have it in them.

OK, I'll bite.Well done for "doing your bit" over the years, but you're a bit out of order suggesting our atmosphere is shit purely because younger fans "don't have it in them".

You "did your bit" when, presumably...

- Tickets were much cheaper so you, as someone up for a sing-song, could afford to go every week.

- There were areas of the ground where your mates could all stand together.

- Most people in our away ends were younger than they are now, because of the factors mentioned above.

If you're going to criticise younger fans for the current state of our atmosphere then you should probably bear in mind that they weren't old enough get organised into an area when we moved grounds because they were too young, that they can't be effective at away games because more older people not interested in atmosphere attend them than they used to, and that it's fans from this generation who have actively fought (successfully) for cheaper away tickets and continue to fight for the introduction of standing areas at grounds.

I think one of the issues is an ageing fanbase. Another is that it's difficult to rouse enough people because there is no way for the singers to consistently congregate in sufficient numbers. A third is that we're saturated with so much sport on TV now, the edge is fast going out of it all. It's very sad.

We're like any ground without a proper main stand. I can name you plenty of sides that only have a number of people standing.

Anyway who gives a fvck. Wow you can stand, other people don't want to. When I go away I'll stand if I can but at home games I sit.

Home atmosphere's are poor everywhere. Last side I was impressed with was Huddersfield. TV broadcoasters build up grounds yet when I go they're quiet - Palace being the best example of that.

Selhurst has always been a morgue I never understand where it got the reputation for an atmosphere. The holmesdale corner does its best but there's only a few of them.

Coincidental announcement this morning given my above post. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say fair play...

*Awaits boring jokes about how they should be paying fans to watch them etc*

Out of interest what was our proportion of standing in the bottom tier at Wembley? Think that is a fair indicator when comparing to other clubs about the % of fans wanting to stand (that may not be able to at home particularly due to others around them)

I was in the middle of the bottom tier and couldn't see if the front was stood etc/can't remember it was a long day in the sun at the pub

Tbf sk1 is the only block in the kop that try and make noise. Sk2 Sk3 and Sk4 are embarrassing in terms of atmosphere. Why do people chose to sit in the Kop and then sit down and make no effort to sing ? I look around me and think why do these people come to football ?

Also people who go away games and sit down and don't sing , what's that all about ? Our away ends where so much better in the championship. Where you could turn up and pay on the gate and stand with your mates. Seems a lot of OAP's and people who take pack lunches with them.

Hey, what’s with the antipathy towards people taking pack lunches?! I like to stand and sing at away matches, but I also often take sandwiches as I do t want to stand in a queue to eat the stadium crap on offer :P singing and sandwiches are not mutually exclusive :D
