30-odd going for it in SK1 all game, but they don't have a prayer if 30,000 others aren't interested.

Not having a dig, just saying it was all Stoke, if fans near you start joining in it would spread across the stand, that hasn't happened for months.

Tbf sk1 is the only block in the kop that try and make noise. Sk2 Sk3 and Sk4 are embarrassing in terms of atmosphere. Why do people chose to sit in the Kop and then sit down and make no effort to sing ? I look around me and think why do these people come to football ?

Also people who go away games and sit down and don't sing , what's that all about ? Our away ends where so much better in the championship. Where you could turn up and pay on the gate and stand with your mates. Seems a lot of OAP's and people who take pack lunches with them.

I usually attend around a dozen home games a season and stand in SK1. Personally I think UFS is a good thing and give them credit as it’s much needed. The tifo’s have been awesome. I do not enjoy a game as much if I’ve, sat, elsewhere in the ground. I do feel this season the atmosphere has been flatter though and noticed less people standing yesterday. I think the players have a big influence on the atmosphere and the slow poor build up play hasn’t helped. We need something on the pitch to get the fans going too. Keep it going UFS.

Wow. Just wow.

personally when I do go to games I do sing but why. Why on earth is it imperative that if you travel away you MUST sing and bounce around like a loon?

If oaps and “people who take pack lunches” can get to Brighton away or Man City away so be it. I’ve been to some right dumps and had a great time with mates in the last 10 years and further back as you say but admittedly in the prem I’ve not been to as many aways as I like but sometimes I just go to watch the football and not goad the oppo fans with willy puller signs and bounce around like a lad.

P.s go support Barnsley and follow them away

No I'm aloud my opinion Stalin , where did I say bounce like a loon ? Standing up and singing ? What's wrong with that ? Most away support is built on them values. Maybe if you turned up to a away game now and again you would understand. Don't tell me to go support Barnsley, when I'm taking time off work and using my holidays to go Everton on Wednesday nights.

Im sick of fans like you who play the " i don't go many away games now, but when I use to go " blah blah blah telling me about our away ends. When you turn up and pay your money and take time out your life then I shall take your views on board.

Can't disagree with the OP.

Of course you don't have to stand and sing, but for whatever reason we have a much smaller proportion that do. There's a real limitation of chants now too.

The drum is awful too. I was in L1 at home to Sheffield United and the guy was drumming along to "Just like Leicester, your city is blue", as if people couldn't follow the tune to 95% of all football chants.

To answer your question I’d say the following teams have less people standing than us:

Burnley, Everton, Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Huddersfield, Southampton, Swansea, Stoke, West Brom.

leaving Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham, Palace and Newcastle.

All except palace have bigger grounds and more fans standing. Except palace who’s a one off.

Why can't people do what they want when they go to a football match?

I've been a season ticket holder for 10+ years and I don't stand, and rarely sing.

So what?

So what?

The atmosphere will be crap. Some people go to the football for the atmosphere as much as the match itself. But your right to be fair people can absolutely do what they want at the football.  We just seem to have a massive number of fans who are happy to sit in silence, defiantly more than most clubs from what I've seen.

Went to Man City away the other week, there was litterly half the upper tier sat down in silence. For me, weird, but as you say people can do what they want at the football.

Sounds mad but it love to go in a Man United away end one day just for the atmosphere like, they do it properly.

These kind of threads keep appearing. I think it’s obvious that standing and singing will create more of an atmosphere however standing up all game and singing in the middle of the east stand may cause a problem. It’s classed as an all seater stadium.  Fans can do whatever they want, doesn’t make them less of a fan. Can’t comment on aways because like mentioned previously I haven’t been to 567 away games to comment.

I like the drum in SK1, I think Liam (if he still does it) does a great job. It certainly makes me want to sing more than the clackers do anyway. I’d love to stand but I’m in the middle of SK1.

I don’t like the drum in l1, whoever it is playing it now, hits it as hard as they can, with no sense of rhythm or timing, it’s like he wants to be louder than the chanting.

Starting to get annoying and killing sound keeping going, as pockets start singing then bang bang bang, and that’s all that can be heard, time to sack the drummer lol

They try their best and have the right intentions. Could it be improved? Of course, but fair play to them for trying.

If you don't go away games then how can you comment on away crowds ? I don't go to watch the tigers so I wouldn't comment on their atmosphere. If you go away games then I'll take your comments seriously but if you don't then I don't think you should be saying anything in all honesty.

I quite like drums in football, I know it tends to be frowned upon in this country, but it really fills it out. I do think that it should only be used in moderation though. Incessant banging doesn't really get you anywhere.

I am well up for getting involved with making a bit more noise and do what I can. I am not a season ticket holder though so I think it's hard to get it going if you are in different seats each time and can't catch very well the chants that are going on. Honestly though, the most noise I hear from a lot of fans is people jeering at our own players. It's really frustrating!!

I wouldn't have put it that bluntly, but I actually agree with your point. I understand that people go to the football to watch the game aren't interested in the atmosphere and that fine! However, the kop is meant to be where people that want to create an atmosphere congregate. The frustrating thing is that there are probably people dotted around the ground who want to sing, but are in an area where there is no atmosphere. The thing is, I can't see the club wanting to do anything about it.

I am sure you are right, but I can't get why you wouldn't want there to be a good atmosphere. Strange! But then I speak as someone who has been supplied free tickets to go to tennis tournaments to boost the atmosphere, so speaking as a semi-professional (!), I take these things seriously!

Cant say I’ve heard the drum in L1 since Jobber used to do it but there’s definitely a tune being banged out in SK1. There’s always been this weird rivalry between L1 and SK1 and who sings the loudest, which is weird as we’re not going to hear each other if we’re both singing at the same time lol

I don’t go all the aways nowadays no and I’m not bothered what you think about that. But not listening to me because I don’t go and you had to use Annual Leave to get to Everton? It’s your choice. Just like it’s somones choice to go and watch the game and not sing Everywhere We Go for 5 minutes.

Go support Barnsley fella it seems you might enjoy it more

Which is a problem.

If everyone got behind the team it'd be great - I forget the amount of times I'm at aways where people near me are just starring at the home fans.

Teams like Manchester United have a far bigger fanbase than ours so we'll never match it. I do a lot of aways per season - I think we take good numbers everywhere, I've always thought that, but we just don't make enough noise consistently. Man City away was appalling.

We haven’t been consistently made good noise in l1 for a while.

We cannot hear sk1, can see them clapping as if they are singing, but again due to the way the ground is, cannot hear them.

The blocks inbeween are the link, sometimes the songs start further down the east stand, maybe or maybe not started by sk1, and we join in.

Don’t see the need for rivalry between supporters of the same team lol

SK2/3 definitely has it's fair share of dribbling simpletons. I'm not sure some of them are capable of singing, moaning maybe.

I don’t either but it was definitely there a few years back.
