Ric Flair Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 As i've said on many occasions you never know what your going to get with de Vries. He's so inconsistent and that's why the fans struggle to relate to him. I don't dislike him and i'm desperate for him to do well, but I think we'd be better off as a team to take him off early on when he's having an off day and then when he's playing well keep him on. I know that might not boost his confidence but this is about what's good for the team as a whole and not just one player. If he can score tomorrow night and get a run going then he'll become a better player as he seems to lack confidence and I reckon he over thinks when he plays at times. When he plays on his instincts and makes quick reactions he's actually a very astute player, which is shown in his first touch and some of the finishes this season. But give him time and space and 9 times out of 10 he'll balls it up. Having said that he's alot better than he was last season and he'll still score us atleast 15 goals this season.

Jimmy Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 if MdV gets around 15 and Hume and Hammond both get around 10-15 i'd be happy with thay as they're all in their 1st full season with the club
Sly Posted 17 October 2005 Posted 17 October 2005 Will today's performance help to get a few more fans behind MDV?. He's never the prettiest of players but once again, he scored one, was around being awkward and taking attention when Kisnorbo scored and was generally proving awkward to the Watford defence whenever we went forward. He's by a distance our top scorer but, more than that he's playing a part in many of the moves that are giving chances to Hammond and Hume. A bit under-rated in my view, mainly cos he's such an awkward looking player. And, of course, all our attackers are looking better because of our renewed commitment to attack. I've been saying this since the start of the season. MDV does offer a lot of options that our other attackers and he'll score more goals that Connors did last year.

If he does score more than 13 then I think he'll of had a decent season as he isn't a natural scorer. I just hope Hume and Elvis can weigh in with another 20 between them to give us a chance of finishing in or around the play-offs.
