Levein On Defeat

0,,10274%7E2740101,00.jpgCraig Levein says he can fully sympathise with the fans following Tuesday night's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Burnley at the Walkers Stadium.

The Foxes had gone into the game buoyed by a 2-1 away victory at Watford last Saturday - and an expectant crowd of over 23,000 turned up to give their support from the terraces.

But after Leicester had bossed the first half they would come unstuck to a goal from former Fox Ade Akinbiyi in the second period.

Speaking after the game, Levein said: "That performance should have been better tonight and I can understand the fans being frustrated. I don't have any excuse. We should have done better.

"Burnley had a game plan. They did a similar thing to Wolves a couple of weeks ago.

"They came here to try and get the draw and hoped to hit us on the break, and they did that.

"For the whole of the first half and the beginning of the second half we were fine, but as soon as we lost the goal that gave them something to hang on to.

"I don't know why we were unable to break them down. There seems to be something about playing here at the Walkers Stadium - we don't play with the same cavalier attitude that we do away from home.

"There were times in the first half when our full backs could have gone forward and been a little bit more positive, but we played a little too safe. Then we started to get brave when we were behind because we have got nothing to lose.

"We have to learn to be brave at 0-0 when we are playing at home. We didn't do that tonight.

"We weren't as relaxed as we were against Watford at the weekend. We didn't pass the ball as well and we weren't brave enough. We didn't commit ourselves to go forward and to anticipate things. Because of that Burnley managed to get in front.

"Again, I am not talking about workrate or anything like that. They worked their socks off. But we need to be brave, we need to get on the ball and we need to make things happen.

"A number of the players played well on Saturday, but they didn't quite perform to the same level tonight. It is consistency that we are looking for."

Its been like that for the whole season, and i take on board what he has said but its the same old rubbish when we lose. Workrate was good, some players were poor and we just lacked that cutting edge! THEY HAD A PLAN - well if we knew that and figured it out then why didnt we combat it!!!

What i want to know, is HOW he will fix these mistakes!

He wont fix these mistakes. I cant believe some people are still giving Levein the benefit of the doubt.

There are concerns about who will replace him but personally I think Barry Fry could do a better job (to be taken with a pinch of salt).

Give over that had nothing to do with Levein tonight, he was badly let down by players who under performed, he should be more honest and say they were totally shit at the basic ingredient of football, passing the ball. We know they can do it, but they didn't tonight.

im giving up on listening to craig levein now, 3 defeats in 7 home games tells me he doesnt have what it takes and he says theres something wrong playing at home, no shit craig.

Levein said at the beginning of the season that we need to make teams afraid of playing at the walkers stadium.

I bet teams are excited at playing here now!!!

Some how we just dont perform at home and levein needs to sort it out quickly!!

Thats because the players dont have confidence in him. Now you give over and try saying the unacepptable results since Levein has been in charge are none of his fault.

Did I say all the results I'm talking about just tonight.

Like we do away from home you mean?

Well i think we play better away from home then we do at home

The thing about tonight was it was Levein's team, apart from Dion and Stearman he brought the rest in, and i think they showed that probably not even half are even good enough for this level. I am pissed off and have had enough, in my opinion he should go now

Levein should fock OFF back to Jockland. and he should take the useless peice of shit 'marc devries' with him.

I think most of them are good enough - they're just being asked to do jobs they're not suited to:

Nils at left back

Wingers playing as midfield support players

Hume up front (instead of attacking midfield)

Tiatto left back

These players CAN do a job but are NOT good enough to play unfamiliar roles.

You're saying that, and thats a major factor in why MA went cos he kept playing players out of position. Why do it? He isn't making sense, if we keep playing the way we played tonight and most of the time at home this season, we are going to be in a relegation dogfight. Do you stick with him or not? I have stuck by him up until tonight, but that was disgusting if we lose at home to Cov on Sun he has to go.

tiatto did well at left back though i wouldnt trust him there for a full 90 mins

Quite agree but he shouldn't be there because:

a) We're sacrificing a quality left-back who takes free kicks and

b) He's a tenacious, energetic, fully commmitted left-sided midfield player (the only one) and if he does have a rash moment or two he's safer there than at the back.

I too am annoyed at the display last night and begrudge the tenner I spent. Hammil was appauling I can't see the merit in playing him every single game because Tiatto is just better! Hughes and Kisnorbo were dyer as well and for Hughes that is very much out of charchter. Gerrband needs to be given a chance at center back (do not get me started on Mcarthy). I did think Nissa played well (first half at least) at left back actually. Williams or Joey need to be recalled to replace Kisnorbo for at least a couple of games to show him he can't play like that and keep his place, however I doubt Levein will do that.

The Crowd also need to sort it out it was more hostile for our players then theirs in the second half.

Levein must win on Sunday we haven't lost to cov in years and if we do I will be more then annoyed. Specially as MA is there manager.

Faye MOM last night he broked down everything we threw at Burnley, and started the move for their goal with an excellent pass.
