Cardiff City FC’s tribute arrangements for Saturday

Good evening all,

 

Once again, sincere condolences for the tragic events on last Saturday.

 

The following has been passed on to us Cardiff City fans, regarding our club’s plans for Saturday afternoon ahead of kick off. This information has come from the Cardiff City Supporters Club. Feels right to let you guys know this information:

 

As the players walk out the tunnel the attached 30x8m flag will be surfed up the Ninian Stand between blocks 114 and 116 from pitchside to the back; it will then be surfed towards the Leicester supporters across 116, 117 until reaching 118 & 119 where Leicester City supporters and stewards will take the flag from Cardiff supporters and surf the flag into the Leicester fans to hold aloft during the minute silence as we pay our respect.

 

We urge everyone who is attending the match to take their seats early for the tribute to start and receive the flag in the Ninian Stand.

 

Leicester City supporters are planning their own tributes during the game which you are welcome to join in with.

I think the travelling Leicester fans are planning to stand arm in arm during the minute's silence?

I do think that there needs to be more acknowledgment of the other 4 victims though.

 

That’s not necessarily directed at you @cardiffcity; if we could have at least one flag in the Leicester end with their names on to pay respect to their families too.

I believe there is a crowdfunding for a Leicester company to produce a similar massive flag for Saturday ......hopefully both sides of the equation realise what’s going on .......

Isn't this the same one? Stringer posted on twitter a giant one was to be made for the Cardiff fans, as requested by CCFC and then passed to our fans. Then a number of smaller ones made,  to be passed by us.

The Cardiff one appears to have both emblems on it and their statement seems to be a certainty - without the crowdfunding reaching 2500 ours won’t happen

Totally agree with you all 5 persons should be named and remebered at the match

 

   ' CARDIFF FANS & LEICESTER FANS BEFORE SATURDAYS GAME WILL TOGETHER DO A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THOSE THAT DIED IN THE HELICOPTER CRASH '   :blue scarf:


The flag will bear the Cardiff and Leicester club logos, the Thailand flag and the words 'R.I.P Vichai'. It will be held by Bluebirds fans as the players walk out of the tunnel, before making its way into the away end.

Cardiff have promised to do everything they can to be supportive of Leicester and this is part of the exercise on behalf of the fans.

There will be a minute's silence before kick-off and the Cardiff players will wear black armbands of their own in a tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.
