Thank the key workers and NHS

Recommended Posts

With COVID-19 putting live football to a stop and our NHS being put under more and more pressure. I would like to set up a campaign for Leicester City fans to unite and show our gratitude to the heroes on the frontline. My goal is to organise a fun-filled event which our NHS staff, key workers and their families can attend for free. This will take place in the summer of 2021 (dates tbc).

So, why Leicester City fans? I am asking LCFC season ticket holders to donate their refunds from missed matches to this cause. I am a season ticket holder myself and will be donating my refund to this campaign.

If you can't afford to donate the whole amount, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Who am I and how do you know I can be trusted?
I have previously ran two campaigns to thank Vichai and Claudio for their incredible efforts in our premier league success in 2015. This consisted of producing a photobook with messages from LCFC fans to express their gratitude and to raise money for the Foxes Foundation & the Leicester Hospital Charity Respectively.

If any non-season ticket fans or supporters of other football clubs would like to contribute to say thank you, we will use this money to put on the best event we can, in order to thank these special people who are helping us in this time of crisis.

Let’s give our key workers what they deserve and show the world what a wonderful, generous city this is.

Please remember to add Gift Aid!

If you do not want to donate but still want to help – it would be great if you could share this with your friends and family on social media.
Thank you,

As much as I appreciate the work the NHS are doing yet again Social care workers and other front line workers are again largely ignored despite the fact they have worked through this crisis with far less supplies of PPE than NSH workers yet are on the front line everyday.

There are many many people on the front line who hardly get a mention who are risking their lives everyday yet still people only ever mention NHS.

It's because so many people have no clue about the roles of public servants, only stereotypes about social workers etc

I would have hoped as a result of this pandemic, the media would have spent a little bit of time focussing on these other essential staff too.

Edit: To be clear this is in no way directed at the OP who's trying to do something really great.

Why's it turned into a debate. It's something online, something positive, that's been created by a member of public and not by a government type. Not everybody will think their position has been covered by this so just don't donate anything, or even click on the thread. Or better start your own.

While I see your intentions to include all in your title your post is a little biased towards NHS I'm sure you would agree.

Read your opening line and your go fundme address.

I won’t be donating as there are other causes that I’m prioritising but good luck 👍

I see that your target is £32,500. It might help others to know a bit more detail about how you intend to spend that if you hit your target

Also, when I looked there were no contributors. Might be a good idea  to do so yourself and to get family and friends to do so to get the ball rolling.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the time to reply with constructive comments. The target will cover expenses suppling attractions, toilets, security, etc. I will be donating my season ticket refund when received, this is for non season ticket holders and Leicester folk to donate. However, if there is no interest in the next day or two I will pull it as the work involved in putting on the event is massive.
