My two penneth worth

1 we are not skint

2 Rudkin/Rodgers have not fallen out big time

3 Decent players are not reluctant to come here

4 The players have not turned on Rodgers

5 we are not going to be in a relegation battle

6 The lack of information coming out of the club does not mean that there is something being hidden

Why do i think this?  

1 he have just handed out some lucrative new contracts, are building a new training ground,have plans for extending the stadium and have just raked in £50M from Chelsea

2 Rodgers would have known exactly what was and was not available/possible in terms of transfer funds when he signed his new deal (albeit Covid has probably led to a re-positioning)

3 we have European football, have shown that we reward loyalty (see 1) are well respected for our owners and club management

4 i do not see a hatful of transfer requests being put in despite the best efforts of the media in trying to sell all our best talent to Man utd, Citeh et al.

5 see all of the above.

6 we are notoriously adept at keeping our business to ourselves. This is actually good management as it does not alert other, wealthier clubs, that our targets may be available and trying to steal them from under our noses. If there are any disciplinary issues (breaking quarantine rules etc) then surely it is better to keep these things private rather than airing dirty laundry in public. Appropriate action is taken internally and the matter is over and done with.

 

We are working in difficult times with so  much uncertainty that no deals will be straight forward (in or out). Some people seem to think that we can simply target a player and that they should be falling over themselves to sign on the dotted line (Messi et al included, but of course they would be too old, too expensive not our profile etc etc for some).

 

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring!!  it will all be fine. The club will not self destruct in the next few months, we will possibly make a couple of signings, maybe move a couple more on, life will continue and we will win a few games, lose a few, have good days and bad days. We will most likely finish top half, maybe have a decent run in one or more cups. The world will continue to spin on its axis.

For a bit of perspective, we are coming up towards the second anniversary of the worst and saddest day in this football clubs history and yet we are speculating on unfounded rumours of trouble at the mill because we have not gone out and signed half a dozen proven world beaters in what is possibly the hardest and strangest transfer window ever.
