BenFilbert Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 i said sheehan or stearman gilbert is rubbish get him out of the whole team. Gilbert isn't in the team and he's hardly been given a fair chance. I hope you aren't another mad person on this site. Welcome anyway. I would pick Stearman.
Hitesh Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 Stearman mainly because i have seen him more times.
jamie_trueblue Posted 9 November 2005 Author Posted 9 November 2005 if i was cl i wouldnt even play gilbert i wouldnt evan think of him. its hard to chose between sheehan and stearman but i would proberly chose stearman
Isopen Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 Stearman is the better player overall, however Sheehan offers a greater threat with his free kick & corners. Still not convinced about Nissa at L/B & I think Maybury is having a poor season in comparison to laat year. However a back 4 of Stearman, Gerrbrand, McCarthy & Sheehan is too inexperienced to risk. With the clean sheets at present we should probably stick with what we have

City_4_Life Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 As a favourite player it would have be stearman

With the clean sheets at present we should probably stick with what we have The Reserves are keeping clean sheets too pretty regularly, including another one against a strong Tottenham side yesterday. I'm a bit doubtful about this "inexperience" thing. Stearman and Smith have been pretty good already this season (in what time they've been given) and it was a clean sheet for Sheehan against Sheffield Wednesday too and he's had others lately. I have no doubts about any of them experience-wise and the same goes for Chambers. The problem for youngsters is that any mistake THEY make is INEXPERIENCE but any mistake the seniors make it just a momentary lapse in concentration. None of the first team's recent clean sheets hide the facts that mistakes were made in all of those matches from which the opposition SHOULD have scored. What you can say though is that City have decent, well-organised defenders now and people who also understand the system who are more than capable alternatives. The proof of this and the main step forward is not so much the clean sheets as the fact that we are offering opponents so few chances now. Someone else pointed out recently that you don't feel nervous every time the opposition attacks any more. Cos you certainly used too, at least I did.
samlcfc1 Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 Two very good prospects for the future, id say stearman for the fact that ive only seen sheehan play few games

I wonder if that's the truth with a few other posters too cos I've not seen many of the 22,000 City faithful down at Hinckley for reserves matches.

I think it's definately the case although from my point of view i've seen them both a number of times and Stearman is the more complete player for me. Sheehan has excellent natural ability and will get better with the right coaching and it's hard to say how good he could get as he seems very relaxed on the ball in defense and going forward. Stearman's talent is there for everyone to see and he's shown that by playing out of position and playing it very well for the majority of the time. I think he could play almost anywhere across defence and midfield and put in a professional performance. I am concerned that he's not being moulded in to playing his most natural position (centre back) for the first team, he has showed signs that he can be exposed at right back and I think Levein needs to give him a few minutes in the centre of defence when he can to give him the chance to develop there. Both of them are good enough to play regularly in this division and it's great to see. I hope they don't get forgotten about now our defence has been sorted.

Are you wanting me to admit i don't go to see the reserves? I don't. I've got better things to do than go to Hinckley on a Tuesday night. I did go when they were at The Walkers though.

It was not in any way a criticism - your time is yours to do as you like - it is just that I have the feeling there are quite a few people who have seen so little of Sheehan that they've no idea whether he's our best left back or not. Should that be the case, it won't make it any easier for him to get in the side.

Should that be the case, it won't make it any easier for him to get in the side. It shouldn't make any difference whether the fans have seen him or not. The manager knows what he can do and the manager picks the team. I like what i've seen of Sheehan but i would keep Johansson there for now.
