If we got him for 6 months we would have paid him c. 7.2M over that time.

 

Not terrible for a player of that quality. Still don't believe we would have paid all that though. More likely a percentage of his wages and no fee was initially agreed then they upped the price and both Leicester and spurs pulled out.

He's more likely on £230k a week.

Should he leave would anyone offer him that much in the current climate?

So you've not followed recent developments of him actually playing and earning praise from Conte?

Glad to hear it. Still not worth that kind of money to the club. Maybe it's a credit to him that he was willing to fight for a place vs leaving. Just hate to see us start to attract players a bit past it and great in name only. Too much to lose at those type of numbers. A years pay for 2 of our best players.

A deal to pay £3.3m loan fee and 50% of his wages doesn't look as bad in the first instance as compared to paying £300k a week

 

 

I think this would have been more likely the deal we would have looked for but it sounds like Inter may have wanted the loan fee plus 100% wages paid which we just wouldnt pay.

Doubt we would have agreed all of his chunky salary. Sounds like we came to a agreement eg 30% of his wages but then they wanted however much on top for themselves.

 

I wonder if it meant that he agreed to come for half his wages and we agreed to that... or something along those lines..
