I'm surprised you can't find the posts from me, I got challenged for being very negative pre and post him signing. You say I wanted someone else, absolutely I did if it was Bertrand or nothing. 

There was a long old thread before he officially signed but when we all basically knew he was coming so your misgivings are probably in there, among the millions of posts calling it the most sensible deal in football history and a complete no-brainer - which it was, in the sense that it looked like a fantastic signing unless you actually used your brain. As a third-choice Fuchs replacement who never actually plays he'd probably be about right but unfortunately he is playing quite a lot and not doing it very well. At least he's got plenty of scope to improve and hadn't already shown signs of sharp decline at his previous club or anything.

I was very vocal AGAINST the signing of Betrand, even on a free, on his thread on the Transfer Talk forum because I had actually seen several of his Saints games last season and witnessed the noticeable erosion of his skills (even Saints optimists tried to rationalize it by saying that he'd mentally checked out and was simply marking time towards his Saint exit and his probable last big payday), but I was mocked and even insulted by some. Anyway, now that he's a Fox, I am 100% in his corner and hope that he goes on to prove my trepidations WRONG and instead turn out to be yet another wiley signing for us.

I would rather we concentrated on stopping the ball coming in, than bringing someone on "cold" to defend, when that player is not up to speed with the game. 

The only signal that sends to your own team is a negative one, which leaves the team dropping off to defend, and then that invites more pressure.
