Boro at Home on that Friday night

8k in attendance. Kasper saved a late penalty. Nugent got our goal I think

Missus rang at HT to say the bathroom flat roof had caved in on her whilst in the bath 😂

I only made it as me and a mate had decided to head into town for an all day sesh

Great night

Not snow but Blackburn at home in the PL around '98 was also almost impossible to see the whole match due to fog.

Now.   If we're talking about fog, the classic game was England U21 v Bulgaria U21 at Filbert Street (Nov 1979).     England won 5-0.   Not that anyone saw all the goals, mind.

If you stood behind the dugout near the half way line, you couldn't see either goal. .

So we stood at the front of the Kop, so we could at least see one of the goals.   You could barely see to the edge of the 18 yard box.   It was absolutely farcical.   But it was funny as well, in a way.   Just staring out into the empty nothingness for minutes at a time.   And occasionally some players coming into view.

Sure that was the 1-1 draw with Stockport. Kerrea Gilbert got his only goal for us, with a cross.

We were soaked and had to move to the back.

Also snow and ice everywhere on the way to the ground for the 0-0 draw with Oldham when Dean Windass had to go in goal.

Similar note to that Oldham game was when we played on a Sunday v Ipswich (Tigers were at home on the Saturday) and most of the country had suffered badly with snow. TV moved their coverage to our ground. Might have been 1-1 with Ambrose scoring for them.

A couple of near misses were when we went to Brighton’s new ground for the first time and Newcastle in 2017.

Brighton - we lost and went down to 9 men. As we got to Northampton on the M1, the conditions got really bad and had to follow in a truck all the way back.

Newcastke 2017 - the weather was cold and snowy on the way up but it absolutely came down whilst we played in Newcastle. Spent the night over and then came down amazed at how bad the snow was in the Midlands.

That might be the coldest I've been at a stadium.

Yes, I went to that one. The lowest league attendance in the freezing cold ended up being the springboard for the promotion push. Then we took more than 6000 fans away to Fulham for the decider.

Yes we took more to Fulham than were there that night.

Also took huge followings to Oldham, QPR and Leeds if I remember rightly.

Halcyon days

Wasn’t there a game in the early 90s Brighton away, when they called the game off an hour before kick off with a lot of city fans already down there?

There was, myself & a couple of mates drove down. We phoned Brighton, who assured us the game was on.

We got all the way down, only for it to be postponed. Waterlogged pitch. We ended up watching England v France in the 5 Nations in a boozer.
