My favourite city player (up to very recent times) what a winger and criminally underrated. 
 

Always remember just before we bought him Port Vale they played on itv and he setup 4 goals and they looked like scoring from every cross he did. Luckily carried that on here.

Guppy was a terrific player, left foot was a wand. Yet his most memorable moment (goal at Chelsea) was with his right.

Inverted wingers are quite boring really, although I suppose the full backs can still cross a ball properly.

 

Guppy would have got more caps at a fashionable club.

Thinking back to Bloomfield's team - City enjoyed the brief interlude of Joe Mercer's interim England management when our outfielders, Weller, Wortho and Steve Whitworth, were briefly called up. Even then, you knew that it wouldn't last. The snobbery that surrounds the England national side has always prevented talented lads from unfancied teams getting a foothold. I wonder how long it will take Southgate to give Maddison his next opportunity.

Apart from all that (and the reason for this response) is that I always rated Lenny Glover as equally effective as the rest of Bloomfield's stars. I suspect, at that time, we had more of a reputation as a Cockney exile playboy club than the rep. we actually warranted.
