I really appreciate your advice and will get on this immediately. Trust pilot and Google with a complaint sent to head office.

I wanted to put the info all on here first to make sure I was correct before publicly condemning and going over their heads.

Thanks

Don't hesitate to do it. They've tried to rip you off and stuff like this absolutely infuriates me.

No wonder we have a bad name when this is STILL going on.

They look like they're in partnership with Arthur Daley.

Imagine a little old lady who's lost her husband and had to sort the car out...they'd be laughing all the way to the bank. Simply not on.

If using a main dealer, it's pretty much industry standard that you'll get an email from the manufacturer to rate your experience.

Sales or service.

Anything under an 8 is a fail. They also have bonuses paid on that.

I really hope you get that email. Although there can be a practice of 'removing' the email address, which is very wrong.

If you ever work for an independent garage within the East Midlands then please DM me as you would be my go to guy. You have certainly shown your decent character and I thank you.

You're more than welcome.

Some people in the industry do have morals, whether service or sales.

I find that to be a more successful business model.

I'd rather deal with the same people for years and be honest, leading to recommendations, than make a quick buck out of someone and have a bad reputation.

Hope you get it sorted mate, hearing things like this really does boil my piss.

Just wanted to add all the other information in case I am missing anything, being blind or just not in the know as I am not into cars.

Please see images of the MOT certificate and emissions report from the independent.

I think, with the input from on here that I may approach JLR head office first of all. I have never found citizens advice to be of much use but others on here may have better experiences.

thanks for all your info so far and please do have a look a the attached images.

I notice that your expiry date is exactly 12 months from your test date. Next time you go for an MOT, take last year's certificate and present it to the test center because you'll get your new one extended to 12 months from when your old one runs out. (I'm assuming that you didn't get your test done the day it ran out or was already expired). In effect, an MOT can actually last up to 13 months because you can get your new test up to one month before it expires and still preserve your expiry date (you'll see it confirms that on the certificate just under where it gives the expiry date). I hope that makes sense.

Hi Guys,

Below is the review I posted on Google and Trustpilot but also sent to JLR I think. I found a customer service email address and wanted to confirm it is the right one as it was certainly wasn’t obvious. [email protected]

If anyone knows then please advise.

Thanks

I dropped my car of on a Tuesday for an MOT and made it clear I needed it back on Wednesday. I didn't get it back until the Friday with no apology but that is not the point of this post. The point of this post is quite simple but seems ethically questionable. Stratstone did a vehicle check on my car and came up with just over £2000 worth of URGENT work. To most people, URGENT would mean needs doing immediately or it could be dangerous. However, when it came to the MOT, these things suddenly were not urgent and in fact did not even come back as advisories on my MOT report. So what was so URGENT and worth over £2000? What about if I had been a vulnerable person who didn't understand to question things? What about if I had been an elderly person, recently widowed who had never dealt with the car? What if this £2000 prevented me from paying my heating over winter?

Also, they didn't even do the MOT as their equipment broke and so got a local independent to do it. An independent that charges less than Stratstone and yet they still charged me Stratstone prices. Which, as I am sure you have guessed, was as much as they could.

Be proud of yourselves guys.

They did send me a feedback email but when you click on the star to make comment it simply says ‘survey currently unavailable.’ You couldn’t make this up!

I've had that a few times, proper pain.

Update: Stratstone have been in touch to offer me a full refund for the MOT. They never explained why they claimed all the work needed doing but there not going to do that are they.

Trying to appease you as bad feedback direct to JLR is very bad news for them.

Any response on the reviews you published? I'd guess a "I'm so sorry to hear that, please email us..."

You did exactly the right thing, a result getting a refund and warned others.

Hopefully whoever recommended all that work has had a bollocking and it'll stop. If the service manager was condoning that behaviour, the General Manager would be absolutely livid to risk losing the franchise.

So, 6 weeks later and the repair that Stratstone did has failed. Sorry, I meant the overpriced repair.

I have straight away contacted Jaguar head office again to see if they can kick some arse.

I just want a refund now and will take it to someone competent.
