Reserves lose 2-0 to soton

The goal droughts are spreading to the academy and reserve teams lately. Just taken a look at the results for the Reserves, like the first team they are averaging less than a goal a game. Can't be good.

Anyone know why Gilbert was named in the reserves squad but then didn't play?

And for five bonus points, can anyone tell me why we signed him in the first place?

Mace wanted a player whose name rythmed with Filbert so he could use it for marketing purposes. Have you not noticed that Peter was dumped from the first team when Macey resigned ;) I claim my 5 bonus points.

Oh and on the first question CL wants him in the 1st team on Saturday as a right back.

He went to the game by fox travel and did not get there in time

I have a theory (and it's about 95% non-serious) that Levein's signed the wrong player by some kind of freak accident. Tony Capaldi would have been my pick from Plymouth and he's young, left-footed, and involved in an international set-up as well.

Stranger things have happened. Allegedly, Bobby Robson signed Carl Cort instead of Jason Euell through mistaken identity and Peter Reid famously signed the wrong Milton Nunez, not the Honduran international, but some fat jobber who was roughly of pub standard.

Stranger things have happened?

Both teams aren't playing many strikers though. Last night the reserves didn't play a striker! Beswick is a left winger and Muggleton is a midfielder aswell. The Under 18's haven't been playing Chambers that often either and other than him they haven't got a decent striker. Dodds and Graham are both injured. That's my excuse anyway as we usually find the net regularly at youth level.

Whats happening with the team - what are we going to have in a few years a 4 - 6 - 0 formation!
