Didn't some parts of the country have communal stand pipes in 1976?

 

I'm not being dramatic to say there'd be riots, selfishness and absolute chaos when they eventually have to do it somewhere in the UK in the future.

Yes there were stand pipes. Fortunately ok where I was so didn't have to go through that. I remember the heat and lack of rain though not sure the humidity was as bad or extreme as we get now. Mind I'm 50 years older so probably more aware of the discomfort.

If there is going to be one, water will be the next great resource war.

Isn't it amazing that there's a very good chance that you've drank water that has been peed out by a blue whale.

... which in turn, countless billions of years ago, was hydrogen and oxygen atoms shat out by cyanobacteria.
