Accidental purchase on PS Store.

Anyone done this before? My 8 year old seems to have purchased Fifa 22 for £70 this morning from the PS Store, a game we already have and he plays regularly.

 

He's distraught and says he clicked on it to play and it came up with some text he didn't read, he just clicked through and somehow made the purchase. I'm sure I had a password protection on purchases but obviously not on his account.

 

Have tried contacting Playstation to get a refund but believe they are closed.

 

What's the likelihood of getting a refund?

Was hoping for a nice lie in for the first time in ages but the alert on my phone to say I'd spent money woke me right up 😁

Hi,

 

I did the exact same thing, with the exact same game, purchased it on the PS store despite having the disc edition in my console (albeit not installed).

 

I seemed to hit a brick wall with any form of contact and eventually, managed to email them where i was asked to provide proof of owning the physical edition. I had to send a picture of the disc next to a form of ID, and also had to send proof that i purchased the game so in this case, i took a screen shot of the Ebay confirmation as thats where i brought it from.

 

It was a long drawn out process, but eventually managed to get a full refund.

 

It was a complete mistake, i don't even know how i clicked on a game that i already own, let alone how ive accidently purchased it. I never got any 'Are you sure you want to purchase' kind of confirmation else i'd have seen i had accidently clicked it!

That's the thing. It's a game already installed on the PS5 (we only have the digital version of PS5)

 

No idea what happened as he was playing the game last night with no problem then tried to play this morning and this happens.

Are you sure he hasn’t accidentally pre ordered fifa 23 from the fifa 22 home screen? ps store doesn’t let you purchase a game you already own

Think it may because we have a linked accounts. It was purchased on mine at release last year and he can play it as it automatically let's you play games linked to accounts. (Same Playstation)

 

But as mentioned, never had an issue before - he was happily playing it last night.

If he's played the game after buying it you may struggle to get a refund

As mentioned it's a game we've owned since release last year. He's played about 40 hours on it.

I meant if he's played it on his own account, the one he purchased the game by mistake on, since buying it

 

The way the refunds work on the playstation store is they will look at play time since the game was purchased, they will refund it if you have played less than a couple of hours of the game since buying it

 

They may be a bit more lenient if you ring them and speak to them and just explain the situation

Just been on the phone to them after going through their horrendous bot system online. After laying it on thick and an initial rejection they have agreed to a full refund. 

 

Relief. And all accounts now password protected for future purchases. Can't believe I'd somehow only done it for one out of the 2  accounts.

Once you speak to a person they are pretty good!
