Why are Leicester suddenly so bad?

The number of times I’ve watched us play this year and thought we looked a good side..,

The xG stuff is nonsense because the screen actually shows the red and the green closer than this season than last season if anything and we’ve gone from over performing to underperforming xG while he tries to claim the xG actually represents what we are doing rather than talking about why we now underperform xG when we used to over perform it.

 

He talks about our formation without even mentioning the 4231 which is what we’ve played most successfully under Rodgers and bizarrely switched from for some reason.
 

He mentions Barnes and Maddison playing as inside forwards in 433 which one look at average positions tells you is patently not true and that Maddison essentially plays as a number 10 very centrally and and leaving us a massive gap on the right while Barnes stays quite wide making us extremely lopsided.

 

He also massively over extrapolates a Fofana injury in pre-season when it doesn’t actually show much change in the graph and Evans, Soyuncu and Ndidi were all also injured for the first half of that season.

 

He also mentions Soyuncu as a “new guard” player? Wtf? Soyuncu was a big part of that excellent defence in 19/20 and Fofana replaced Soyuncu not the other way round.

 

He talks about players coming in being the big problem when a much bigger problem is previously great players like Soyuncu, Ndidi, Barnes, Tielemans, Justin, Evans, Vardy etc, massively underperforming to what we know their best is or once was. In terms of Evans and Vardy it could well be a case they’re on the decline now due to age fair enough (I’m not convinced yet though), but with the likes of Soyuncu Ndidi Tielemans Justin and Barnes, these are still young players who shouldn’t have just dropped off a cliff like they have. It’s poor management, that’s all there is to it.

 

He also talks about us having a small squad when we’ve all been moaning of having a too big and inflated squad all summer.

 

So much of what he says it’s completely wrong or massive overextrapolation when it’s clear we have very talented players being awfully managed and s bizarre change in formation leaving us with a massive hole on our right hand side.

 

Also, Danny Ward - a “young” goalkeeper who will come good? 
 

Then there’s the typical “they have overperformed under Rodgers, he’s a great manager, he’ll turn them around.” Rodgers-apology crap at the end.
