Sparky Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 overall not a bad performance but bolton were there for the taking last night and if we had been a bit more positive as we did when we went 2 down then we may well have got a result there douglas 7 stearman 8 * dublin 7 johansson 5 ( turned far too many times , looked uncomfortable) maybury 6 hamill 5 ( went missing) tiatto 7 joey 7 williams 7 (played in holding role and showed good energy ,passing wasnt up to much but better option in that postition than kisnorbo, great goal) hughes 6 de vries 6 (lacked support) sylla 5 mccarthy 7 sheehan 6
lush Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 hamill 5 ( went missing) williams 7 great goal de vries 6 (lacked support) Wheres hamill, sky news hasnt mentioned owt Yes what a corker of a goal. Is it de lumps fault he didnt get support?, 6. Apart from that, how did he play?
syston_fox Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 douglas 7 - some good saves but not sure where he was for the second goal stearman 8 * - good tackleing and pushed forward too dublin 8 - did well in defence and unlucky not to get a goal. johansson 7 - didnt do much wrong maybury 7 - supported the attack well but could do with a winger in front of him if Tiatto is gonna wander off hamill 5 - wasnt sure he was even playing tiatto 7 - did well but left Maybury with more work to do due to him playing more in the centre joey 8 - player of the season so far! williams 7 - very poor first half but improved as the game went on. Great goal! hughes 6 - looked good in patches but faded in and out of the game de vries 8 - did really well as the lone striker in my opinion. Held it up well and used his strength well against the bolton defence sylla 6 - some good touches but always picks the wrong decision in front of goal. Shoots when he should pass and vice versa mccarthy 7 - solid sheehan 6 - not much time but pushed forward well at the end
FNQ Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Williams was God awful! MDV did as well as he could.
Thracian Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Are you allowed to vote if you didn't go to the match?
Cobbo Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Are you allowed to vote if you didn't go to the match? Well I imagine so, but how stupid would that be? I didn't see it, but I thought Maybury was total shit. Totally fair I'd say.
Ultra Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Are you allowed to vote if you didn't go to the match? Well when the site was up it gave radio listeners a vote, so I guess the answer's yes. Douglas - 6. Little to do, might be critical of him for both of their goals. Stearman - 8. Quality performance, best player on the park while he was on. Dublin - 7. Had Kevin Davies in his pocket all night. Johansson - 7. Looked a lot more solid than on Saturday. Maybury - 7. Not my ideal choice for left-back but did Ok. Hamill - 5. Not seen at his best. His impact on the game was negligible. Williams - 6. Had a shocker during 90 minutes, but woke up once we were two down. Hughes - 6. Not fully fit, could have influenced game a little more. Gudjonsson - 7. Another excellent display, comparing favourably with opponents. Tiatto - 6. Competitive without the usual rushes of blood. De Vries - 5. Had thankless task against hoe side's first choice defence. Subs Sylla - 6. Struggled at first but improved in extra-time. McCarthy - 7. Showed glimpses of Premiership quality. Sheehan - 6. Good on setpieces, but suspect in defence.
SystonFox Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 yes sure you are but state that you listened on Radio heres mine Rab 7 - made some good saves in the 1st 20 mins, nothing much 2 do shouldnt have conceded the 2nd though Stearman 8 - Excellent performance, cool, collected, solid & worked hard. subbed off as he was obviously knackered. Johansson 7 - looked comfortable in his prefered position Dublin 8 - excellent performance, thats the Dublin we like. did well at the back & unlucky not to grab us a late equaliser. Maybury 7 - getting back to what we saw last season made some good attacks and supported, let down by tiatto wandering though. Hammill 5 - anonnymous. when he did get the ball he looked scared of himself. Tiatto 7 - great way to come back to the starting line up, did little wrong but didnt look up enough when running with the ball. made some excellent tackles too Gudjonsson - 8 - dedicated performance, bright player and really wanted it. Williams 7 - poor 1st half, picked up in the 2nd and worked well in the defensive role. stunning goal, one of candidates of goal of the season come the end of the year. Hughes - 6 in and out of the game De Vries - 7 held up play well, good control on the ball and won alot of headers he usually doesnt. obviously not 100% match fit but he put in a lot of effort. Paddy Mac - 7 solid as usual. came close to scoring but couldnt quite get there. Sheehan - not much time to get into the game Sylla 6 - as said before, made some wrong decisions in and around the box when passing/shooting. not enough service down the right to threaten like he did on saturday.
Collymore Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 douglas 7 - The guy is an awesome shot stopper, He may have gone down to early for their 2nd though. stearman 9 - This guy will play for England with smudger. dublin 10* - Roast lamb. johansson 8 - Could tell he had played in the premiership maybury 7.5 - looked sharp. hamill 7 - never looked like setting the world alight, good control. tiatto 8 - Some really good driving run's, controlled his rash tackles well. joey 9 - Different player from last season! williams 9 - 2nd half he seemed back to his best. Linked up with Dublin well to clear danger. hughes 7 - he tried, thats enough for me. de vries 6.5 - Never looked like scoring, was slow, complained when he should get on with things. Held the ball up well but I would have thought that Bolton could have worked out that he does the same thing everytime the balls played up to him----chest it backwards 10 yards and then hold off 9 men behind him! sylla 6 - could have been a hero. mccarthy 7 - can't keep a good man down sheehan 6 -pushed forward well. CL - 9 got his tactics spot on and must have said something at half time. Think there should be a score included for the fans. Fans - 10...We never stopped singing!
SystonFox Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 fans - well into tripple figures. it was an electric atmosphere in our end. the fact we lost didnt matter to us i have never experienced something like that after losing a game it was brilliant. shame the bolton fans were c rap & only sung "who are ya" a few times. oh and the "easy easy easy" after scoring. if you'd have told me theres no bolton fans in there i'd agree
FNQ Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Are you being serious? Our fans were no more than average. Campared to our away support up to a year or so ago it was poor. Anyhow, well done everyone who went and sing up at Leeds - a much bigger game.
holly Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 douglas 6- didnt do to badly, but could of done better to stop the 2nd goal maybury 7 thought he had a good game nissa 6 seems to have become better at playing on the left dublin 7 well unlucky not to have scored stearman 8 played well, got stuck in and wasnt afraid to get forward hammill 6 nothing good nothing bad hughes 6 williams 7 given 7 coz the goal otherwise would of been lower as he did give ball away alot tiatto 6 joey 7 de vries 7 couldnt really do much more as he ent quick enough to play on his own, held ball well then got stuck! sheehan 5 tried hard, but got caught out sylla 5 dissapointment from sat mcarthy 6
Ash Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 How can some people think Williams was awful then other thiunk he was brilliant ?
Sparky Posted 1 December 2005 Author Posted 1 December 2005 How can some people think Williams was awful then other thiunk he was brilliant ? his work rate was good and he broke up many attacks in that defensive midfield role but his passing was absolutly abysmal . as i said earlier though hes twice the player kisnorbo is
Scow Posted 1 December 2005 Posted 1 December 2005 Doulgas - 6 Don't think he could have done much about the goals. One was from no one picking up one of Bolton's main threats at the back post from a free kick, and the other was from Stearman getting on the wrong side of the attacker for the second. Kicking was poor from Douglas though. Stearman - 7 At fault for the second goal, but performed well on the whole. Pushed forward to greater effect in the second half as the team started passing the ball better and showed a little more ambition. Dublin - 8 Davies struggled all night to make an impact, which was all down to Dublin. He superbly marshalled the back 4, and his lack of pace wasn't really a problem as Davies isn't exactly the quickest around, hence why Levein perhaps chose him over McCarthy/Gerrbrand because of the his aerial ability and experience. Johansson - 7 Looked a bit all over the place in the first half as Bolton's wide forwards dragged him out of position, which left a few gaps to exploit. Looked more comfortable as the game wore on. Maybury - 6 Tried his best at left back, but rarely got forward and was pretty average throughout. Hamill - 4 Non-existent and didn't contribute much, apart from helping out defensively at times. Williams - 5 Passing was abysmal in the first half, but he improved in the second and made some timely interceptions. Cracking goal from 25 yards out, and also went close with a similar effort before that. Looked better when he was given freedom to push forward more when Levein reverted to 4-4-2. Joey - 6 Battled away and won plenty of challenges, but Hughes and Williams didn't help him out much. Hughes - 3 This may sound harsh, but he was hopelessly off the pace. Gave the ball away too many times as well, just like Williams. He was supposed to play as one of the more advanced midfielders, but didn't seem to have the anticipation to support the isolated de Vries. Tiatto - 5 Wondered around aimlessly as he does, but did show some patches of good play, albeit briefly. de Vries - 5 He was isolated until the second half. Showed some good turns, but lacked the pace to make the most if it. Subs: McCarthy - 6 Partly at fault for the second goal. Ok apart from that. Sheehan - 5 Some good set pieces, but looked a little suspect defensively. Too eager, which was probably to be expected. Sylla - 5 Added some pace, but too wasteful when in posession of the ball.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 Douglas - 6 I still think Henderson is better Stearman - 8. Great performance assured in attack and defence Dublin - 7. Old man did storming job Johansson - 7. Tons better in centre of defence. Maybury - 7. Better effort Hamill - 3 Totally anonomymous (were we playing 10 men?). Williams - 6. 4 for 1st half 7 rest of game once realised not a practice match. Hughes - 5 Lousy and rightly taken off Gudjonsson - 7. Player of the season Tiatto - 4. Past his sellby date get rid end of season, pace has gone now De Vries - 8 Magnificent all night no support till 4-4-2. Subs Sylla - 6. Can't play telling final ball 'in and out'. McCarthy - 7. Top rate needless booking. Sheehan - 6. Best left back in squad
