One mistake and the Leicester crowd could destroy his confidence for good.

I'm not sure they'd do that.

Fickle bunch that we are, we'll destroy the old and infirm, the manager's favourites, the one's that don't break a sweat, and the generally inept and clueless. And fat goalies.

I think that the overwhelming majority would bite their tongues before criticising a home-grown talent. Or is that wishful thinking?

Because of course you aren't biased in any way towards him. He is good, and has potential to be even better. However if he is thrown in too early it could destroy the lad. I have seen it done in the past, and it isn't pretty.

One mistake and the Leicester crowd could destroy his confidence for good. You yourself were screaming bloody murder a few weeks back that Hammond shouldn't be anywhere near the team, yet now I notice he is on your team sheet. I'm not sure how a 17 year old would respond to being booed one week and praised the next. Its also not wise to pile so much pressure on someone so young. One bad challenge or knock and it could dent confidence for good.

I think the enthusiasm of Wesolowski bears out my point quite well. Levein stated after he broke his leg that had he been a little more experienced he may not have gone in for what was a 60-40 ball, as a result he may have ended his career. He was lucky, and Balde was reckless, but a more experienced player probably would not have made that decision.

My point is that although both of these players are excellent (and I myself can not wait for them to break into the team, along with Chambo etc), sometimes you need to wait just a while and introduce them at the right time. Its like Hagen Das Ice Cream...Eating it straight out of the freezer is good, but if you wait for it to melt a little it is fantastic.

I WAS "screaming" about Hammond but when it comes to selection we're not exactly spoilt for centre-forwards. My preferred choice back then was three:- Hume/Hammond/MDV simply because no two of em are capable of doing the job properly.

Since then I've seen some hope in the Hume/Hammond combination but less than a handful of goals between them is hardly convincing evidence and probably reflects the fact that neither appear to be natural specialist strikers though I'll be happily proved wrong.

Anyway, that pairing is not likely to change until January by which time they will have made their mark or otherwise, there being no appealing alternatives now that Chambers (injured) can't even sit on the bench.

Because I see Sheehan as the best left-back and City's results have not been good enough to silence opinions about improvements I don't quite understand WHY that makes me biased? I think there's a few who were far more blindly biased about Nils. I've just seen no reason to change my view.

I'm not biased and was perfectly happy to leave Stearman at left-back after Watford (though neither he nor Maybury have free-kick input - which we need - nor have I seen them specifically create much).

Why, with 75/80 per cent of fans appearing to want Sheehan at left back, they should not give him a fair chance to settle in when they've already put up with Nils' blatant errors for weeks, I don't know.

But you may be right. You certainly know the fans better than me. It sounds like a Roman ampitheatre thing. Thumbs up or thumbs down. Perhaps you'll let me know who we're supposed to support and who we're supposed to condemn cos I've been cheering everyone so far (even against my better judgement).

That's cos, biased or not, I don't like to see anyone fail or to see City lose. As a biased man I'd love to see Hume and Hammond shine brighter than sunshine. But, were I Levein, I'd be bloody worried about their lack of goals.

Wishful thinking I'm afraid, I've heard plenty of people shouting abuse at Stearman :( 10 minutes into Sheehan's home debut a guy behind me said 'I don't like the look of this new left back, he's crap'.

Jordan Stewart (ok he came from Villa but spent a lot of time in the reserves before breaking through) is my first thought there...also tommy wright...

Silver Fox, Sheehan is 19 not 17. At 19 you should be breaking through in to the first team more often and he deserves to.

We have conceded 8 goals in the last 4 games and that to me doesn't spell out a solid defence so it's time to change it again. Sheehan and Maybury at full back with Gerrbrand and Dublin in the centre whilst McCarthy is out.

Personally I'd rather have peter gilbert bk from sheff wednesday. I dont think nils - eric looks comfortable at Left back. Nor Stearman he is suited to right back. I thought sheehan was ok at the blackpool game but not the best so we could give him a run against crewe or stoke?

Fair play, I will let you have that one.

However, I will say that it is ridiculous to suggest Levein is intentionally keeping him out of the team. There is no vendetta. Why would he be so full of praise for the lad.

Just let him do his job and pick the team.

I hate some City fans, well, some football fans in general. I can't see how slagging off a young player is supposed to achieve anything.

If I heard anyone having a go at Richard Stearman, 1 - I'd think they had no faqing brains, and 2 - I'd tell them.
