Last 5 years combined best squad

Just look at the quality of our squad in the last 5 years (+Kanté), If we had them all together injury free on their peak Champions League qualification is the least thing you'd expect from this squad, unfortunately we don't have the money to keep our players and buy finished products.

You're putting together sides or combinations of players that never existed together - never mind imagining the different 'peaks' of players happening simultaneously.

You need to do another count though because Kante was here longer ago than that. And if he is in the side then frankly so would Fuchs, Huth and Morgan be. 

 

Surely by now people have realised there's more to defending than being flashy.

If Kante makes it in so does Fuchs, but yeah it goes without saying we had the clout of a big club things could have been very different, we had the same issues as Saints, as soon as we had a sniff of success we got pillaged by clubs above our stature.

 

Also at least one of Huth and Morgan makes it in the back 4.

Kante was sold a lot more 5 years ago. Mahrez was sold 5 years ago.

 

It’s weird including Kante and Mahrez and then not Morgan Albrighton Huth Fuchs Drinkwater Okazaki Ulloa or Simpson in either XI

Could argue for Ulloa over Iheanacho though.

 

Don’t get the op putting Fofana over Evans tbh. Fofana had one very good kid season as a young kid and clearly had bags of potential but was still clearly a bit raw and error prone.
 

Evans was our best defender for 3 seasons then Soyuncu, Fofana and Maguire all had 1 very good season each alongside him, in which in order from best to worst was Soyuncu > Fofana > Maguire imo
