No football league club is paying money for Ward. I doubt anyone even considers him for a loan. He stays here untill we pay him off or his contract runs out. Yet another example of our catastrophic contract extensions.

Of course they will, even if it isn't near what we paid. The criticism he was getting at some points was hilarious. People saying we needed Kasper back, yet I'm fairly sure by Xmas Ward had kept more clean sheets than Kasper had the whole previous season. This isn't a dig at Kasper btw, just putting it into perspective. Remember that joker Gomes that Spurs had, he was a laughing stock, made errors galore and got a gig in the Premier League after, albeit going on a free. Ward is nowhere near as bad as he was

😄 Ward is much worse. Gomes (as far as I can remember) was a clownish gk who always had an error in him but he was still capable of doing the basics of goalkeeping. Ward very clearly isnt.  Any half decent on target shot not aimed directly at him had a high chance of going in, didn't/couldnt organise his defence or inspire any confidence in it, he has no physical presence at set plays, positioning was often poor.... He is an overall appalling goalkeeper and no scout in the PL or Championship is going to review what he did last season and conclude that he's what they need to keep the ball out the net. He's not even worth a place on the bench.

I'll have a £10 charity bet with you then. I've had this argument, with many. Made a couple of huge errors at the beginning of the season, but even had people blaming him for Son's thunderbolt and was never going to win over the doubters. Probably done here now, but we'll get something for him

Fair enough. £10 charity bet that Ward doesn't leave Leicester in the next 2 years for anything above a free transfer. And I don't believe he actually made that many 'big' errors myself. He's just inherently an extremely poor goalkeeper.

Hoped this would be a thread about doggy bags from the big buffet Rudkin and Top had at the weekend.

I was gonna call first dibs on the spring rolls and samosas

Justin, Souttar, Faes

Ricardo, Soumare, Ndidi, KDH, Kristiansen

Iheanacho, Daka

You could field that team first game of the season without signing anybody and you'd have a reasonable expectation of it beating every team in the league as long as it was coached by a manager that actually knew and was familiar with an attacking / pressing 352 (and they do a lot of fitness work in the summer!)

Not many, if any, of those players are really in a position to brute force a move. Your biggest issues are with the wages of Ricardo and Ndidi I'd imagine.

You also have very, very little depth. Bench would look something like:

Smithies, Thomas, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Braybrook, Alves, Vardy

That bench isn’t too bad at championship level albeit we need another up and coming keeper and a few ambitious young guns maybe on loan from the likes of Chelsea or Man City.

I think the reset may be more ambitious but time will be the enemy and we could do with more leaders.

I think Ndidi will be in Italy relatively soon.

Additionally, 2 guys on that bench won’t be physically able to contribute a single thing until the second half of the season at the earliest.

I'd consider most of the bench a stretch tbf. The kids are crippled, Vardy is hard to predict what he'll want to do this summer (I can genuinely see a Kasper style unsatisfying exit) and I don't actually think Vestergaard will play. So to say the bench as ropey would be an understatement.

Not sure on Ndidi though. Wouldn't surprise me if he goes, wouldn't surprise me if he stays. Either way he should be fairly affordable to replace to an acceptable Championship standard. Not sure I believe he's off to Napoli though. Doesn't fit their team at all.

They need a box to box alternative if they aren't keeping Ndombele. The already had probably the best holding midfielder in Europe this year and he's also very good on the ball.

Issue for me there is a lack of creativity in midfield. We'll need a couple of attacking midfielders in the transfer window to feed Nacho and Daka, and I'd be content to lose Soumaré or Ndidi (perhaps even both) to make that happen, as you get the sense that those two with service will terrify most Championship defences.

I don't know.

But hasn't this been dealt with in "Championship Starting XI", "Who would you keep" and various other aftermath threads?

Not sure? Could you maybe start another thread titled "have we already had a thread about who will stay and go in the championship"?
