Dream scenario for me would be Jed Mercurio. Then throw all the money at Jack O’Connell as The Doctor. 
 

2 companion team, a smaller Smith/Capaldi TARDIS console room but multi layered like Smith’s first, make it more serialised like the original show but not shit like Flux - maybe a 12 episode story told in 3 4 episode parts throughout the year with an obligatory Christmas Special. Minimal returning characters from the NuWho era please. Drop Gallifrey and The Master for a while, though perhaps introduce a new and unique Time Lord villain called H

The episodes have been pretty good but the new doctor was a gay black guy which is too much for most people to handle though few will admit it to themselves. He was never going to last.

 

The story lines have been as good as other recent series and really good family viewing.
