Head says Osian.

Heart says Bellers.

FAW probably says Andy Melville or some shit.

Page had to go though. He was basically our Southgate, really good cheerleader, fostered a good team atmosphere, likeable guy, players liked him, but just zero tactical sense at all.

Just reliant on the players producing individual moments to win games, exactly like Southgate.

Couldn't we have waited one more day ffs. Cooper would have been the favourite for this job.

As much as I've made that joke elsewhere, I highly doubt Cooper would have taken the Wales job.

You get paid peanuts and there's very little support from the FAW.

It'll either be someone whose career has stalled/ended like Tony Pulis looming out of retirement a la Josh Toshack, or it'll be a young, moderately recently retired Welsh International.

As much as Osian Roberts would be the fans' favourite, I think there's a strong case for him being a more highly regarded coach and maybe manager than Cooper at the moment and after his stint at Como, I think he'll get better jobs than Wales.

A couple years ago it looked like Bellers had blown his start to coaching with the youth academy bust up but he seems to have found his feet getting back to it at Burnley. I can definitely see him being interviewed, all jokes aside.

Are they just going through a list of ex players ?

It's how we nearly always operate.

In my lifetime, Yorath, Hughes, Speed, Giggs and Page all former Welsh internationals, all came in at the start of their careers. Generally as their first jobs or maybe after a short stint elsewhere.

Unless I'm forgetting someone*, think it was only Tosh and Cookie that were established managers and arguably both had seen their careers stall, especially for Toshack's second stint.

I'm happy with the appointment, Bellers is young and progressive but he's also got a shit lot of fire in him. Might end up a disaster but if the players buy in I can see the young crop we've got really getting on board and I think he's got a lot more footballing intelligence and pedigree than Page quite frankly.

*Bobby who? Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about.

True and maybe you will get a more experienced coach alongside side him ?

I expect so. The fans were desperate for Osian Roberts to come back but he's got a really good thing going at Como and I'm not surprised he wants to see it out.
