Well the big bang has been pretty much proven because it is still echoing through space. But I still believe there is some kind of God.

Well I won't claim that but no-one or no thing has ever proved to me that there is one. If there was one who was almighty I would have thought he could have created a more perfect world. If there was something I would think there would be numerous gods for different things- like the Greeks and Romans thought. That could explain why some bad things happen.

Id go for Big Bang, personally I think the story about God creating the Earth was made up at the time to give the people who wondering how it came about, a story that they would believe as they did not know what really happened due to lack of technology e.t.c.

But as Lib said, the Big Bang has pretty much been proven and although I think that this is the case, I do believe there is some form of God, but just that he did not create the Earth.

i voted the 2nd one. remember seeing a discovery programme and they experters said our planet formed through gravity pulling big rocks together, thats why our planet is so uneven. big rocks came from a massive explosion after a bad curry

As for what there was before the big bang, that is yet to be satisfactorialy explained. To be quite honest I couldn't give less of fock. No organised religion has coem up with the answer that is for sure.

There could have been an infinite amount of "Big Bangs" before the "Big Bang" singularity that "started" the universe as we know it.

"Big Bang" theory is incredibly complex and it's still a work in progress. For good descriptions of the theory in layman's terms, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time or Narlikar's The Lighter Side of Gravity are good choices.
