The Tv coverage isnt quite as good in the 2nd division which is disapointing... the games (excluding boring Maresca ball) are usually more exciting.

So.. meh

You could say that our board are very poor at running a modern day football entity. The astonishing  thing is they are running three now (indirectly) with the same outcome.

It’s all well and good comparing us to other clubs that have fallen away. But modern english football is the most lucrative as an entity in world football. Blackburn are only similar to us because they’re former champions, other than that there’s no likeness at all.

What some fail to accept is the financial gain we got from our success outweighs any team with a similar history to us. The fact we have spectacularly failed to sustain even a level of mediocrity with the financial benefits we had, is still staggering.

Clubs like Blackburn fell away because they simply couldn’t compete financially anymore, same with Bolton, Stoke and Pompy. We didn’t have that issue, we could financially keep up, but what we did was completely mismanage those finances, make some amateur and shocking decisions that ultimately allowed the club to fold like a deckchair. We allowed millions of pounds worth of assets walk away for free…… assets that if sold for good prices could have helped keep us stable.

This isn’t a case of a small club running its course, this is a case of a club that’s so badly run, that it’s managed to tie itself in knots financially, despite raising astonishing levels of money from player sales, that to a level of elite clubs.

That’s what separates us from all of the other falls from grace, it’s the fact we had earned the means to be a successful and steady club, but human error has lead to an implosion like no other.

What was the financial gain though? We were paying such high wages to get where we got to.

Errr….. the close to £600m we raised on assets……….. and not to mention the financial gain from the event success.

I can’t see that would leave us in an amazing position when you consider wages, transfer fees, new facilities etc

Being a Leicester fan has always been about identity. It’s the place where I feel I most belong. It’s changed a bit over the years from my dad first taking me when I was 7, going with my mates to away games as a teenager and then taking my own children.
But throughout, it’s remained a local community, tribal thing for me. I know it’s not all important in reality, but emotionally it is, as it’s my greatest escape from reality.
The match day ritual leading up until kick off. We all have our own.
Nodding to familiar faces, or even speaking to other fans who I still don’t even know the names of after many years.

Then Matt Piper helping me to process the game on the Radio Leicester after match pod and the brilliant ‘Big Strong Leicester Boys’ pod doing the same.

I’ve loved our times leading to success. It’s addictive and I’d love to experience the highs again. But the actual days of success I have to admit I haven’t enjoyed that much. The presentation of the PL trophy after the Everton game, with all the hangers on, including hearing Keith Vaz talking absolute nonsense. The Championship Trophy presented after the Blackburn game, again with loads of hangers on, including a TikToker on the pitch who was pictured at Old Trafford in a Man Utd shirt shortly before.

I care passionately about my club. I desperately want success for it, but the paradox of that is I hate what success means and brings with it.

I said at the start that being a Leicester fan for me is about identity and belonging. Sadly, none of that comes from the club itself anymore. I’ve never felt a bigger disconnect.

I don’t want us to go down and down, but if it meant we could eventually reach a place where that connection is possible again, with a transparent, competent leadership off the pitch and committed players who seem to care on it, I honestly wouldn’t be bothered. In fact I’d welcome it.

The current ownership treats us like Customers, not fans. This has been obvious for quite some time, but none more so than the day of our relegation in 2022 when the club advertised the upcoming season's shirt despite it being a last day relegation battle.

However, we fans can turn this back at the owners. Treat the "product" that is Leicester City Football Club as the product that it is, complete shite. Go to the games but DON'T buy the shirts, the merchandise or anything like that. That would be the most effective way to change something at the club.

I would be bothered if the club continued to plummet down the league. But I would not be bothered if many overpaid executives and players left tomorrow.

Vichai was willing to interact with the fans. He had a big heart and was, I believe, v. happy and involved with being the owner of a football club. He was an exemplary foreign owner. That went away tragically and abruptly. How things would have progressed with him still in charge is conjecture, but how things have gone without him has been 'The Idiot's Guide To Running a Football Club'. Winning the Cup masked the deterioration and was largely due to Puel's recruitment. Indecision and haphazard recruitment is now epitomising us. I hoped RVN might galvanisé the team and be savvy in selecting teams but turns out they eschewed employing a solid manager for a name. Mediocre players brought in and duff players making it back into the team. There's an air of resignation over the players - only one or two look like they're trying. And if defeatist players are on the pitch then the plague will spread. There's no leader around. The Leicester City of Vichai was a Premier club. Top's is a nowhere club.
