For some reason, a long dormant memory crossed my mind this morning of reading an old away match programme on the way home from an away game about 15-20 years ago (no idea which game) which gave facts about the away team (I.e. Leicester).

One of the facts was about a fiction book (maybe science fiction set in the future) where Leicester had won the league and FA Cup multiple and even the World Cup to boot. They might not have necessarily been a Leicester fan, just that it was a weird aside to have in their book I guess.

A quick google and I can’t find anything, so maybe this is a false memory. Does anyone know of this book? Has been made aware of this fact?

Ok thank you. Yes this was the one

I remember finding it in a book shop in Bulgaria in 2011 and explaining to my girlfriend that this was supposed to be a fantasy world where the impossible (e.g. Leicester winning the League and Cup) could happen. She told me I was being pessimistic and I dismissed her hopeless naivety. Then after we won the Cup in spring 2021, the first time we were in a bookshop after the reopening, we found it again and reflected on the incredible journey of the previous ten years.

10 and a half chapters, says google

It's a very good book and he's a very good novelist. He was born in Leicestershire but his parents moved to London when he was just six weeks old. However, he decided to support us and has written about us numerous times over the years.

Never read any of his stuff but will give it a go then.

At one point it would've made me melancholic that it had never happened. Now it's depressing thinking how it's passed...
