I know you meant experienced players letting us down there but You do need balance.

I said after the Plymouth win that the young lads nearly cost us the victory because they were still making start of the game decisions in that final 20mins that they couldn’t execute because of tiredness, it will be this type of thing that gets the young lads pinged.

In those moments it’s about protecting the lead not trying to rack up a cricket score by forcing the play, you score because in those moments the opposition over commit trying to force play…for all the slating of Burns he was trying to manage that final 20mins, unlike McFarlane, who I didn’t think warranted the praise he was getting, was a bloody hindrance in that period.

I don’t understand why we signed Cullen but he wasn’t in the squad thank god, McCarthy wouldn’t have been on the pitch had Jakub not been injured & the time of their 2nd goal there was only Souttar, Thomas and Riis as experienced players on the pitch but Burns, BCDR still getting some.

Even my gran knows after a goal it’s the most dangerous part of a game and they never managed it so the 2nd was quickly followed by a 3rd.

I imagine they are getting pinged because of their inexperience in this management of a game and not trying to personally blame them.

Ideally Lundstram or someone of his experience would have been able to come on but we don’t have a a CM / DCM to come on current so Page and Sammy are going to have to learn quickly.

I’m not slating or sticking up for anyone but there is an issue when any team has a lack of experience or leaders on a pitch, Chaplin & Lundstram are key and will make a huge difference.

Ditto Martin also needs to front up and adapt, I would hope we won’t see Thomas at CB again and Souttar’s on thin ice.

As an aside, didn’t we have a load of posts stating they would be happy to watch and stay in the lower leagues if they were watching the academy lads & them giving it some regardless of result?

Balance is fine if the experienced players step up. But they never do.

Looking at yesterday there's next to no communication between McCarthy, Souttar, Bobby and Burns, and neither offer any leadership and take the game by the scruff of the neck (and in terms of balance they are 1/3 of the team). Its still Alves, JJ and Braybrooke offering the outlets and creating the chances.

Russell name checked what he thought the problem was yesterday, and it wasnt that 4.

The question is what i thought of them, and the answer remains terrible. We could have rotated Souttar for someone with pace and managed that game much, much better.

Also, did you see Souttars interview? 'Its not good enough?' At no point did he reflect on himself. There is much delusion with the experienced lot, including the manager.

I agree with you fella & certainly not sticking up for Martin but 3 goals came when Bobby and Burns weren’t on the pitch.

No haven’t seen Souttar’s interview.

Sammy, Page & Alves will always look the best & look the worst as they are central and everything goes through them, you can’t really teach someone how to manage a game that comes with experience but that will come.

Predictably shit. The big issue with them is we give them a contract to essentially let them wind down and we get more of what we got before.

That people fell for it again baffles me. You could easily have gotten "experience" without having to do this.
