Coventry City have reportedly dropped their interest in Sunderland striker Matt Piper.

The 24-year-old, plagued with injuries in recent seasons, had been training with the Sky Blues with a view to a loan move.

But City boss Micky Adams has decided against bringing Piper to the Ricoh Arena.

In a way i'm pleased he won't be playing for them, but will he ever get to kick start his career?

I'm glad he's not going there, hopefully he can go to a league 1 or 2 club and build on from there

It makes a change for us to release a couple of players who then suffer with injury like Piper and Izzett.

Usually we sign players and then it turns out that their bones are made of old coat hangers.
