Steven Posted 14 October 2004 Posted 14 October 2004 One name I have not heard of before and one that may have some merit as well. I have seen the name of Stuart Pearce floating around. I would be prepared to give him a go. :w00t: ::
Cobbo Posted 15 October 2004 Posted 15 October 2004 If it was alongside another, more experienced manager...maybe. But not on his own seeing as he is yet to manage at any level. Ps. Gregory better not be the more experienced manager....
Scow Posted 15 October 2004 Posted 15 October 2004 No thanks. He was manager of Nottingham Forest for their relegation season of 96/97.....
Buzzell Posted 15 October 2004 Posted 15 October 2004 He was manager of Nottingham Forest for their relegation season of 96/97..... 26777 No thanks
Leicester_Mad Posted 16 October 2004 Posted 16 October 2004 how can we get rid of Adams and then get him? Backward step i expect the board to be a bit more ambitious
Red Mist Posted 17 October 2004 Posted 17 October 2004 No thanks. He was manager of Nottingham Forest for their relegation season of 96/97..... 26777 No bloody way! He was awful at Forest! Not the case really. He came in as caretaker manager after the team had already lost it completely and Frank Clark had walked. There was actually a noticeable improvement when he took over. A certain Dave Bassett was soon brought in, supposedly to work with Pearce, but really in complete control. It was in truth a combination of Clark and Bassett who took Forest down that year: Pearce can't be blamed as he was only in sole charge briefly (during which time he got some very good results). Whether or not he would make a decent manager for you is another question though. Relying on passion and spirit is subject to the law of diminishing returns and I don't know how much tactical acumen he has. I think John Gregory's your best bet
Steven Posted 17 October 2004 Author Posted 17 October 2004 I think John Gregory's your best bet 27242 What, for playing in the Conference. :w00t: ::
Red Mist Posted 17 October 2004 Posted 17 October 2004 He's a Tree through & through 27244 Like O'Neill and Robertson were?
Ash Posted 17 October 2004 Posted 17 October 2004 He's a Tree through & through 27244 Like O'Neill and Robertson were? 27248 but O'Neill & Robertson were actually good Coaches so we let them off
Oli Posted 17 October 2004 Posted 17 October 2004 I wouldnt mind to see Pearce in charge but with a experianced right hand man. He would certainly get the team playing with passion.

He needs to develop tactical awareness in addition to his other attributes and this is where an experienced right hand man with tactical awareness would help enormously. Pearce on his own could be a liability.
Hoof Fox Posted 17 October 2004 Posted 17 October 2004 But surely if we replace Adams with Pearce then we possibly replace a tactically inept manager with potentially another, at least with Micky he had some experience and proven success. The board need to go for a manager who has a proven track record and is experienced, we cannot afford to go for somebody unproven like Newell, Pearce or McAllister. My ideal candidiates would be (I am not saying these would be available ) 1. George Burley (Good chance of tempting him away from the Sheep) 2. Gordan Strachan (If Vogts doesnt get sacked then I think we will be a good option for him) 3. Paul Jewell (Cannot see him leaving Wigan) 4. Glenn Hoddle (Why not, probably best offer he is likely to get, has something to prove) 5. George Graham (Again unlikely to get a better offer, and again has something to prove) 6. Peter Jackson (Done a fantastic job at Huddersfield, twice and has managed them at this level)
Steven Posted 17 October 2004 Author Posted 17 October 2004 I agree, so perhaps we should be thinking about appointing a management team rather than just a manager. That might not suit some candidates who would want their own staff, in this case I would like to see the board get proactive.
Ric Flair Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Just stumbled across this thread when I was looking for something, I bet a few fans are feeling abit silly now.

Ric Flair Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 No. Whilst Pearce has made an impressive start, he hasn't achieved anything yet. Your right, but the signs are looking good for him.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 But compared to the stert he's had in the prem would you rather had the year we've had to endure under Levein
Sparky Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 stuart pearce will go on to be a great manager , his passion is brilliant and he is a gentleman manager , he refuses to blame referees no matter how much they have cost his side
Louise Posted 28 September 2005 Posted 28 September 2005 Not feeling silly at all, as he was never interested in coming to us.
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Not feeling silly at all, as he was never interested in coming to us. Yes he was!!! He threw his name in to the hat when Adams resigned I remember!!!!
Guest Posted 29 September 2005 Posted 29 September 2005 Not feeling silly at all, as he was never interested in coming to us. Exactly.
