Ol' Spider

There he was at his crap little club coming on as a sub (again!) ten years on. Yes, almost a decade since he hauled his 10 foot frame on to the hallowed turf and made Palace cack their pants so much they forgot to mark Stevo Claridge for his infamous shinner (actually he caught it cleanly on his instep but who am I to revise the legend?).

Yes, Mr Kalac has fallen a long, long way since his Halcyon days at the ol' Filbo and the REAL Wembley. I wonder if he tosses (ooh er missus) and turns at night reliving his glittering career wth LCFC?

Or is it only when he pulls on the humble AC Milan keeper's jersey to face crap like Bayern Munich in a Mickey Mouse competition like The Champions League that he thinks about what might have been?

Its funny isnt it :D

the truth is though, we had a good young keeper, who was inexperinced in big time football

remember, we brought him Sydney Utd in the old NSL which is no where close to the standard of the old Div 1

and to come up against fowards of that quality when your used to some old aussies has beens, its quite a diffrent ball game.

we probebly should have kept him on and waited that extra 2-3 years and would have had a great keeper

I just hope that when all's said and done, Kalac admits that he'd never have gotten to where he was if it weren't for good ol' Leicester City FC ;)

I wonder if they got a chance to watch his performance in that League Cup game against Bolton on the video before they signed him

No they saw "A spiders influence on the game". A brief 3 minute long snippet from the Leicester/Palace playoff final .

I did fill people in on the Milan forums on him when he signed. To think that an ex Fox is a Rossoneri. i only wish we could sign some ex Milan players :(

Och you're a cruel lot. I subscribe to the chaos theory of history (actually there isn't one, it's a theory of physics but I've appropriated it to further my own half baked notions) where small insignificant events have very significant consequences.

I gasped in awe when he ambled on to the pitch at Wembley. He seemed as high as the Olympic gallery where I was sitting and his stride was as long as the penalty box. I have no doubt that his presence caused a momentary lapse in concentration in the Palace defence. I still remember Nigel Martyn's look of resignation as he turned his head to watch Stevo's 'shinner' fly past.

And that's when the great MON era was born.

We played Bolton off the park that day aswell, one of the best leicester performances ever under McGhee, just a shame about the keeper!
