I have given up now for three days, i didn't really feel too bad until today. Now i am really suffering, has anybody got any ideas or tried and tested methods? I have gone cold Turkey so far with no patches/aids but am beginning to think i may need them.

Patches work!!! Go to quacks and get on prescription - cheaper.

Else, try banana's - read somewhere that they have some stuff in them that helps.

Get some of the gum or patches. I've not smoked for two months now and have been chewing the gum. Get the strong, fresh mint flavour if you can.

Decided to get some chewing gum but just the regular not nicorette (i thought it'd be a backward step too take any form of nicotine) and it really has helped, stopped me thinking constantly about it.

The trouble with bananas is they are hell of a job to light them. :D

Just keep reminding yourself the damage they can do to you everytime you get the urge. Or get a piece of black card and write on it 'My lungs' on it and keep it in a empty fag packet.

But would you be able to smoke them at the walkers??

I've been ill all week and I had my last fag on saturday but it wasn't nice with a saw throat so I haven't had one since, I've not been too bad and unless I really crave I won't have one when I'm feeling better. But we'll see what happens.

Made it through last night, which was tough but now feel more confident than ever before. Drinking beer whilst watching footy, in a smoke filled pub has to be as hard as it gets and now i think i can start to call myself a non-smoker yay.

avoid places/situations where you would habitually light up- you are most vulnerable after a couple of drinks, a formal meal or if you are in an idle moment. If you get the urge try handling a pencil like you would a cigarette. All mad but it helped me over a 25 a day habit for 20 odd years ( off the fags for over 4 years saved a fortune and feel much healthier)

Don't think you've cracked it yet, it's a long hard slog and only takes a moment of weakness, say when p*ssed, to undo all the hard work.

Cheers guys

I certainly don't think i have cracked it yet but, yesterday i was about ready to knock it all on the head and commit myself to being a smoker for the rest of my life, now i can see the cravings starting to become less powerful and less frequent.
