Louise Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 Not seen it mentioned anywhere... At the bottom of the Westerby Cup 'report' on the OS it says that Louis Dodds has just signed a new contract until July 2007. It seems like we're signing everyone up now, its nice to have some young players coming through although, although along with Porter, Dodds hasn't featured for the first team yet. Good news?

Very good news. Like Porter, he's only been given a one year deal. But it's shrewd because although they both haven't featured for the first team, they are both excellent for the reserves and with the money they are likely to be on if they released them then they would only have to recruit or promote some other youngsters to play the tole they do and they would probably be on the same sort of money as them aswell. Dodds should be loaned out for a month or two, I think he'll surprise a few people. Natural finisher, I would like to see him given a chance at some point. He's got to be the club's leading scorer at youth and reserve level for some time. He's consistently scored 15-20 goals a season at various levels for about 4 seasons.

Best thing is he played most of his time at college and i think the start of his leicester career (maybe he still does i've not seen any reserve games recently) as a central midfielder. Still he outscored the strikers.. Bang him in

Bang him in I would like to see him play as an attacking midfielder, not sure about his tackling not really seen enough of that side of his game but I think he could play a Scholes type role. Scholes incidentally was also very prolific at youth and reserve level.

Leicester City Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 so refreshing to have all these talented youngsters coming through the ranks if nothing else, should generate bit of money Sad but true.

I was told recently (ultra reliable) that both Dodds and Sheehan were in line for a long to Hinckley United had it not been for the managerial change. Sheehan of course has since been injured anyway.
Strokes Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 I was told recently that both Dodds and Sheehan would have been loaned to Hinckley United had it not been for the managerial change. Sheehan of course has since been injured anyway. Surely reserve team football is more challenging than that?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 Surely reserve team football is more challenging than that? More at stake in Hinckley games than reserve team football. I think a loan to Hinckley would be good for Dodds but a backwards step for Sheehan.

I agree. Sheehan is better than that level and Dodds will be aswell but it would be good experience for him. There would be plenty of League One and League Two clubs who would take Sheehan on loan.
Loake Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 Dodds turned down a loan move to hinckley, i know this for a fact
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 Dodds turned down a loan move to hinckley, i know this for a fact You do, do you
IDEA OR IKEA Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 yes i know his brother and he told me Good enough for me
Jonbluefox9 Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 Dodds turned down a loan move to hinckley, i know this for a fact What was his reasoning, do you know? Maybe he wanted to stay here and impress the management. It's easier for coaches to forget about you when you're loaned out. You're out of sight, out of mind. At least now he's been training with the first team on occasions (maybe all the time?) and playing at the level below the seniors. Still think a bit of first team experience wouldn't have done him any harm.
Loake Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 it was because he didn't think it would help him in his career i think(not sure though as i wasn't told much about it)
Jonbluefox9 Posted 1 March 2006 Posted 1 March 2006 it was because he didn't think it would help him in his career i think(not sure though as i wasn't told much about it) Understandable really. He knows what's best for him.
Magictv Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 yes i know his brother and he told me where do you live then cause his brother lives in same village as me I think?
