Ricey Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I thought the ref was awful! So many times we were clearly fouled and he just waved play on...then we started fouling Stoke and he gave the free kicks to us!
Anish Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I'm not blaming the ref for their equaliser. It did look like a bad decision but Dion was fouled on the halfway line and our defence was shocking for their goal (as well as for most of the match). If we concede sloppy goals like that we do not deserve to win games, regardless of a refereeing decision that didn't go our way. I think fans are far too quick to blame referees for the inadequacies of their team. I thought Makin was woeful again and seems to get worse by the game. Other than that, we played well until the goal. As usual we thought we'd got the game in the bag after we went 1-0 up and just sat back. It is increasingly infruriating seeing us go ahead and them defend deep, inviting them to attack, and then resorting to hoof ball again. Yes we did play well in patches and the passing was good at times, but the whole attitude of the players was wrong after we scored. A special mention should go to Nalis - he was by far our MOTM imo and looked quality. Excellent passing, good tackles and running, and didn't give the ball away cheaply unlike others.
Cobbo Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 Their goal came after a blatent foul on Dublin that wasn't given too, which was rather annoying I must say!The referee was a bit of a silly platipus. 28734 Following a blatent foul we made on one of their players a few seconds earlier So fair decision overall 28736 That attitude is really bad. It was indeed a foul by us on them before that, not given....the ref played on and then a blatent foul on Dion occued...that was a foul whether the one for Stoke was given or not, if the ref had decided that he wasn't going to give us the free kick after fúcking up the earlier incident and thus making it 'even' he is a piss poor ref! He was indeed shocking overall, never let the game get any sort of flow at all. 28737 WHAT??? Apart from a couple of bad mistakes, i thought he was the best ref i have seen for a very long time. He played the advantage a lot which was very good imo. 28742 17 fouls to 21......that's a lot considering it wasn't a very dirty game...looking at the rest of the games stats played yesterday, this figure is higher than all of them. He was a very stop start kind of ref, whistle happy except for those two incidents. Awful. Infact, they're all bloody awful. Grr! And I understand what you're saying Anish, we should have defended the situation better, but it was still a foul
Mark Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 I think you're overeacting a bit Cobbo. I didnt think anything of the ref after that game. Suprised by your comments. We cant complain about every ref every game. He didnt make any wrong rash decisions did he that cost us the game, or miss the unmissable. An average performance by a decent enough ref, yesterday anyway.
