Knighton Matt Posted 6 April 2006 Author Posted 6 April 2006 Somewhere like St George's Tower? V. close though Lisa St Georges Tower is 2nd standing at 82m. That and the answer to the question are also the two tallest buildings in the whole of the East Midlands!
Lemon Harpic Posted 6 April 2006 Posted 6 April 2006 There's a building on Humberstone Gate that's quite tall.
Katy Posted 6 April 2006 Posted 6 April 2006 Yeah the old BT building, where I used to work on Humberstone Gate is the tallest I believe. We used to go up to the top floor sometimes and the view was immense, could see for absolute miles.
Knighton Matt Posted 6 April 2006 Author Posted 6 April 2006 Correct it's the Cardinal Telehpone Exchange on Humberstone Road and at 84m high it's the tallest building in the East Midlands.
Katy Posted 6 April 2006 Posted 6 April 2006 Correct it's the Cardinal Telehpone Exchange on Humberstone Road and at 84m high it's the tallest building in the East Midlands. One of my most favourite jobs ive ever had

I hate the Clock Tower Filbert Street was beauty from within and the Walkers is just like any other new stadium unfortunately (but I still love it)
hairy Posted 7 April 2006 Posted 7 April 2006 Correct it's the Cardinal Telehpone Exchange on Humberstone Road and at 84m high it's the tallest building in the East Midlands. Knighton Matt did you know its also the 'deepest' building in Leicester. The basement was dug to some 6 (?) storeys so that it could house a communications hub for use in the event of a nuclear war. Not a lot of people know that. I used to know a guy who was the construction project manager.

I used to know a guy who was the construction project manager. Interesting stuff. Just spent 2 weeks (ish) in HK. The buildings there really are something else and they're constantly reclaiming more and more land from their natural harbour and building bigger and bigger buildings. And England won the Rugvy 7's!
Swedging Posted 7 April 2006 Posted 7 April 2006 Quiz question II: Are there any buildings in Leicester that aren't completely hideous? Some - but they're houses in Western Park and Stoneygate/Oadby (like the ones the Uni owns) built between 1900 and 1930. I reckon some of them are as good as any houses of that age in the country. And New Walk has some pretty buildings on it, too.
Tommy Posted 7 April 2006 Posted 7 April 2006 Correct it's the Cardinal Telehpone Exchange on Humberstone Road and at 84m high it's the tallest building in the East Midlands. My Dad works there. Bit of random info for you that you really didn't want/need to know.
