Ricey Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 Well I'm very impressed by what he has said in the pres conferrence. He is very ambitious, he wants to win games and get us into the Premiership. He doesn't beat around the bush, he knows what he wants. The thing that excited me most was the he wants to bring in homegrown young players and bring the average age of the squad down, the fans will love this and can only benefit Leicester as a club. He said everything I wanted to hear from him, he sounds like a good bloke and I'm very excited by him being Leicester City manager
Mark Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 He came across very very well, and i'm excited for the future now. He also never talked in the third person mode once :w00t:
Oli Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 I unfortunatly missed the Press Conference. Has anybody got a link for it? Thanks.
Eastern Fox Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 He sounded very promising. I wonder what assistant he has it mind? He said someone that knows this league- perhaps McAllister?

That's my bet anyway, which I would like
Scarby Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 I watched it on sky sports news!!! They said he wants to win the PREMIERSHIP.
Ricey Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 Gary Mac would make a great assitant Hope it is him he wants.
Eastern Fox Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/3960105.stm "Dave Bassett is expected to remain as Leicester's director of football, but temporary assistant coach Howard Wilkinson is not thought to be part of the club's future plans." I was hoping for a complete new start - oh well.

That's why he was so keen to get the manager's job he knew it was his only real chance of staying on longer term. I HOPE
gorgie jungle Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 I think craig brown will assist as he knows your league.
Scarby Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 whats with the abuse for bassett he hasnt put a foot wrong
Scow Posted 29 October 2004 Posted 29 October 2004 Just watched the press conference on LCFC World - He impressed me with his talk of the Premiership and his burning ambition to get there. Strikes me as an intelligent person too. Nice to know he's looking to bring the average age of the squad down. Introduce some homegrown youngsters to compliment the experience. Already a good sign that he's identified that particular problem within the squad. Ideally, he wants the team to be mainly comprised of 24-28 year olds..... He also mentioned how he wants to create a side that the fans can recognise/identify with - A bit of a dig at Micky perhaps with the amount of players released/purchased during the last few seasons. He talks a good game - Let's hope he produces one too.
