Isn't that just copying St. Guiness Day (sorry Patrick's) celebrations??? You should be having roast beef and yorkie puds, drinking proper bitter and doing some morris dancing in a bowler hat!!

LCFC UK Posted 20 April 2006 Posted 20 April 2006 driving back to uni, to much of a celebration! tbh no one really makes a big thing about St Georges day do they! Thats the annoying thing, if its celebrating Divali or something the city comes to a standstill!
Dr The Singh Posted 20 April 2006 Posted 20 April 2006 Thats the annoying thing, if its celebrating Divali or something the city comes to a standstill! Thats cus the hindus make an effort to celebrate it, last week was Vaisakhi which is the equivalent of xmas to the Sikh faith and we celebrated it by the usual march of the sikh warriors. I believe St Georges day should be celebrated but if us English are not going to get our fingers out of our arses and make an effort to celebrate it then whats the point. Is there any english heritage societies or other organisations that can get together and do something??? I know most are quite happy at sitting in the pub and getting drunk but what about the kids, they need to be involved and taught about english heritage and feel proud to be english. This government\council spends alot of money on other occassions this day should be no different!!!!

Katy Posted 20 April 2006 Posted 20 April 2006 Fosse have an important game on Sunday but then its down the Dry Dock after I guess. More should be made of St Georges Day, people shouldnt feel ashamed to be English which sadly a lot of people do

More should be made of St Georges Day, people shouldnt feel ashamed to be English which sadly a lot of people do I think over the next few years you will see a massive upswing towards pride in England and being English, after years of stiffeling by what is in effect a Scottish goverment (Blair, Brown, Reid e.t.c.).
Deathside Posted 20 April 2006 Posted 20 April 2006 I shall be marking national pride day by taking a flight out of the country - I'll come back on Thursday
