Surely not Lennon though

To be honest he was completely different type of player but yes still better in my opinion.

He must have been good, would have loved to see him, do you know his stats (goals, apps etc.)

From of Fossils and Foxes.

b. Winchburgh, West Lothian, 23rd September 1938

Career Livingston United; 1955

Hibernian; Jan 1962 CITY; Sept 1970

Anton Villa; Jan 1972 Exeter City (- 1974).

City debut v Fulham (H) 3.2.62

One of the very finest ball-players to have graced Filbert Street since the war, Davie had still to complete his National Service when Matt Gillies paid Hibs a bargain £25,000 for his signature. He was expecting a near-immediate posting to Aden with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, but had that postponed when selected for all that season’s showpiece Army representative games. Turning full-time to City’s cause after his August 1962 demob, however, he forged an unforgettable early partnership with Mike Stringfellow on the left flank of the attack.

His elegant control and visionary passing skills were major prompts to City’s Wembley visits in 1963 and 1969; and Davie himself found the net with pleasing regularity, scoring in both legs of the 1964 League Cup Final victory over Stoke, and knocking in three goals in his seven full Scottish international appearances of the early 60s.

His artistry — always marbled with a tough resilience — was barely on the wane when he left to give a veteran’s course in midfield style at Villa and Exeter, and while with the former club he returned to Wembley, albeit as unused substitute for the 1971 League Cup Final.

Apps: FL 274+6; FAC 29; LC 30.

Goals: FL 41; FAC 5; LC 7.

7 Scottish Caps when Scotland had a good team.

He wasn't a defender unless that was the mighty Mike Gibson :P

Alot of people thought Robbie Fowler's days were gone and he's been very effective in his second spell at Liverpool at a far higher level than we are playing at.

If Izzet's knee is ruined then obviously we wouldn't want him, but if there's a good chance he can carry on playing then why wouldn't we want him if the deal was right? He's 31 and has been injured for a season, it's not as if he's much older or he's had massive injury problems all his career. Fair enough it might only take one injury to finish a footballers career but that's down for the physio and doctors to decide, if he's ok to continue and Brum want to get rid of him then we wouldn't be able to get a better midfielder than Muzzy Izzet.

He'd strengthen our team and bring more fans through the turnstiles, you name me a player that could to that for us that wouldn't cost us much within reason.

indeed I seem to remember people were saying that he wouldnt hack it in this league, he is now liverpools most potent striker.
