Joey: Its hard to say goodbye

Departing Leicester midfielder Joey Gudjonsson has confessed he has mixed feelings about leaving the club to join AZ Alkmaar.

The Icelander signed a pre-contract agreement in January to join the Dutch side on a four-year deal but revealed he was tempted to remain at the Walkers Stadium.

Gudjonsson said: "I'm leaving with mixed emotions, but the decision has been made.

"I was close to staying but the decision was made before Leicester came to me. I would've liked to have stayed, but I had to make a choice for myself and my family.

"From a personal point of view, my time here has been good - I've enjoyed my experiences, I've felt at home here and I've improved as a player."

Anyone think this is the truth or that he didn't like Levein/Leicester at the time were going only one way...Down.

he was one of the players taking us down (although it was mostly leveins tactics) but still, he decided to jump ship. he wasn't that good anyway.

He's bound to say this. Imagine if he left and said, "Oh yeah and by the way I'm not really bothered that I'm leaving, other than losing some mates."

Sentimental rubbish from Joey. Well played this season and thanks alot but don't keep stressing the fact that you had no choice because you blatently did. The AZ deal was to good to refuse finanically and rightly so you accepeted it.

If he was desperate to stay here he should of asked Leicester to come in with a contract

This article is a repeat of the interview he did a while ago. Don't hang him for saying a few sentimental things after his final game of the season, it's natural. It's the lazy journalism that annoys me.

well down to it the club was not fast enough to offer a new contract and so it is basically the clubs fault and yes he will be missed by us all he made a diffrence to the club during his time here dont you all feel the same
