Pressman - Why the Vitriol?

Record this season in the Championship

Walker P 6 W1 D2 L3

Pressman P12 W4 D7 L1

Sure he's made some mistakes, but didn't Walker.

Niether could be said to dominate their area and I agree he's not a long term prospect.

But he's been as good as and consistant as anyone playing for LCFC and is certainly as worthy of his paycheque as anyone else.

So why dis it so many of you can't wait to see him out.

I think a number of you are blinded by his size.

Masybe because alot of them draws were from him mistakes!

He is crap. Couldnt even get in Wednesday's team!

He's made some saves this season that I don't think Walker would have done.

The only worry I have is from corners, he certainly doesn't command his area very well.

I've seen Walker struggle with crosses too. Not as much as Pressman but still. I've benn asking why people seem to want Kev out too davieg. He's done brilliant and is really commited to the club and helping Logan improve. Just because he couldn't get in the Wednesday team doesn't mean he was rubbish.

I like the interview he gaven on LCFC WORLD, fantastic character, vitriolic reactions to his OWN mistakes, I am happy for him to continue in goal but wouldn't pick him over Walker.

Pressman is alot better than i thought he would have been! he has impressed and everyone makes mistakes

remember when Kevin poole dropped the award! and the next game Nev on commentry said..hes got his head in his hands i hope he doesnt drop it

ha sproved himself to be a more than adaquete back up keeper. Has made soem wonderful and vital saves this season that have kept us in macthes in times, even if he is prone to the off error.

I seriously think if he was a younger and thinner keeper people would be raving about this seasons performances.

Still, I hope Walker is back as soon a s possible.

I'll admit, the big man has had some great saves, and has stopped a few top corner efforts that Walker may have missed! Though I have a problem with him always kicking left footed, It scared me at times against Cov on tuesday when he took the ball under pressure because he's not got a right foot!

Conrad Logan certainly deserves a shot in between the sticks, I've seen him in training, he's a cracking player! I reckon he should at least come on for the last 10 minutes against Sunderland, just to give him a feel for it! We've had some quality 'keepers come out of leicester, this guy looks like the next big thing to me!

holy shit i have followed the res from a far and all i ever hear from people 2 that have been to the games and they both said logan was kidding himself if he thought he was ever good enough for the seconds let alone the firsts they both said he was shit both liked the look of clarke but i havent heard stuff all about him since pre season where has the other young kid gone clarke <------- where is he i want to know he was the one from what i hear

I would never bring a sub keeper on for the last 10 minutes unless the starting g.k is injured. It may only serve to boost the confidence of the opposition strikers, and it would unsettle our defence in the process.

Clarke's far far worse than Logan...

And Logan would struggle in League Two

Im happy with Pressman in goal, i think he's an averagre keeper for the division, its alright saying his mistakes have made us draw etc, but in some cases his saves have stopped us losing, you got to take the thick with the thin (Pressman certainly aint thin).

He's done a decentjob and i feel people have been a little harsh on Michalin Man. ;)

Well after the Sunderland game I blame Pressman for their goal. He has cost us again IMO and again showed why us fans do not have any confidence in him. Not only is his aerial ability poor but he is nervy making the easier save too. The one which was straight at him (albeit with a bit of pace) which he almost fcked up on had a lot of fans gasping. We need somebody else in fast.

Does yesterday's performance answer the question?  :)  ;)

what about his performance at Gillingham? or maybe that at Cardiff? Or against Ipswich?

Leicester fans are too fickle and always looking for someone to blame.

Of course the answer to this is that we all expect him to make the saves he does and do not expect him to make the mistakes he does. It is against these expectations we judge him. ;)

I don't think we are any more fickle than any other group of fans.:);)

Pressman was at fault for Heath's o.g too! He came out for a corner and flapped at it again, thus causing mayhem in the box! It's a recurring theme with Pressman - he can't catch a cross/corner to save his life.

Kevin Pressman is good at the initial save, but doesn't have the mobility to produce the second, as we've seen this season.

His lack of mobility also means he doesn't command his area as well, certainly when we're defending corners, as we saw yesterday.

Unfortunately, his size is a contributory factor.

The other problem is that if a midfielder makes a mistake, it rarely leads to a goal, so we don't notice it, but when a keeper makes a mistake, it is a goal, which we remember, and blame him for!

He's done well and he has tried, but sometimes that isn't good enough. But then again, how many excellent keepers are there outside of the Premiership?

Posted

It's not about wanting excellent goalkeepers - we have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with excellent goalkeepers for about 8 years now (Keller, Arphexad, Flowers, Walker etc). I don't expect Pressman to be a world class keeper, I expect him to be steady and solid, like many other keepers in the Championship who don't make howlers.

Posted

Every keeper makes at least one mistake during the course of the season, and to be fair to Pressman, I doubt he thought he'd be playing that much this season. You can't blame him when he's come in and done a job to the best of his ability, which isn't good enough.

I think the previous regime were short-sighted, especially when Bassett said that they knew Walker had an injury, and were hoping he could make through to the end of the season before needing an op.

Posted

We could all see he's not been commanding from corners/crosses - Unfortunately, this problem will persist while he plays in goal. He's made some fantastic saves this season, but we need someone who will inspire confidence in our defence. Mind you, Heath and Dabizas are not a great pair to have in front of you anyway. <_<
