Gamesmaster Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 Cant be worth playing james, so robo starts. I dont see becks as a fully fledged winger anymore, so should he play a more defensive role, wing-back? If nevile isnt 100%, then theres nay point playing him, so we could play a 3-5-2. Ashley cole can easily play wing back. ----------------------robo -------carragher--ferdinand--terry ---------------------carrick becks-------gerrard--------lamps----Acole ---------------Jcole -----------------------------owen i do feel that against the big teams, lamps and gerrard will be found out defensively, and because there both so good in attack, they must play. That being the case, we need a more defensive midfielder, and now that we have a "spare game", its important carrick gets a feel to what he'll need to do come germany or ecuador. I'd put rooney on at half time, probably for owen, and i'll tell owen thats a real possibility going into the game. If rooney gets through 45 mins ok, then he'll be good enough to start round 2. Alternatively, i'd like to see a 4-4-2 with gerrard right wing, carrick and lamps in the central positions, and becks on the bench.
Bert Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 Robbo A Cole Carragher Rio Campbell * Give Jt a rest* Lennon J. Cole Beckham *Rest Gerrard also protects his booking and Becks can protect and play long balls from in front of defence* Lampard *The above giving Lampard freedom* Owen * Needs games* Walcott *1, why call him up, 2, why risk Rooney, 3, Crouch on a booking*
potter3 Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 -----------------Robinson Carra---Ferdinand-Campbell---A.Cole --------------Carrick-Lampard--------------- Lennon--------------------------------J. Cole -----------Walcott------------------------------- -----------------------------Owen---------------- Give Terry a rest, not sure if Neville is back? Gerrard on a booking(maybe bring him on at half time) and see whether its worth playing carrick to give them freedom Why bring Walcott if we don't play him? Crouch on a booking, Owen needs matches See if we can cope at set-peices without Beckham, Lennon is much better in open play. Bring Rooney on for Owen or Walcott at some point
Foxes_Wizard_Striker Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 Thought all protecting bookings stuff don't matter as they will be wiped out for second round

davieG Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 Thought all protecting bookings stuff don't matter as they will be wiped out for second round Not if you get 2.
Jay Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 I think you have to play Rooney from the start!! you can't hold him back for ever, if he is ready he is ready he needs to get a good 70mins in or he will never be fit to start in the next round!
Jamesino_LCFC Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 -----------------Robinson---------------------- Carragher-------Ferdinand-------------A.Cole Lennon----Carrick----Lampard--------J. Cole -------------------Gerrard--------------------- -------------Crouch-------Owen--------------- With Rooney to feature.
potter3 Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 Are you me in disguise? Yes I am, except i want to know if playing Carrick will make a difference. And you reminded me about Walcott and the bookkings -----------------Robinson----------------------Carragher-------Ferdinand-------------A.Cole Lennon----Carrick----Lampard--------J. Cole -------------------Gerrard--------------------- -------------Crouch-------Owen--------------- With Rooney to feature. I don't think we're allowed 12 men
davieG Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 This would be my choice based on the following assumptions, Cole & Neville injured Gerrard, Crouch & Lampard - one more yellow and they would miss the Germany/Ecudor game Robinson- Looked nervy so far needs all the games he can get. Bridge - Cole injured Ferdinand/Terry - not been severly tested yet more games together will improve their partnership Beckham - can hit long balls into the box from there just as well as from right midfield -can he defend? Cole / Carrick - let's see how a 'conventional' midfield can do! Lennon/Downing - let's see how having 2 wingers starter affects the team Rooney - needs to get fit Owen - needs the game to improve fitness plus with 2 wingers, Rooney, Cole and Beckham feeding him will have no excuses. Let's go out and attack, go for goals.
Jamesino_LCFC Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 Yes I am, except i want to know if playing Carrick will make a difference. And you reminded me about Walcott and the bookkings I don't think we're allowed 12 men .. Yes but I meant he will come on, off of the 'bench' as a 'Substitution' for one of the 11 players which were mentioned in my team
dandannieldanok Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 my team would be: --------------James (Robo is lookin dodgy, james needs a chance)-------- Carragher-------Ferdinand---Terry---------A Cole ----------------------Beckham----------------------- Lennon----------------------------------------J Cole -------------Gerrard-------------Lampard------------ ---------------------Owen---------------------------
Bert Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 With Cole "doubtful" I would now definetly go for: ------------------------------Robbo ------------------Rio---------Terry----------Carragher -----------------------------Carrick Lennon---------Beckham---------Lampard-------------J.Cole ----------------------Owen--------Walcott
Monk Posted 17 June 2006 Posted 17 June 2006 I reckon he'll drop lampard as he's on a yellow, push Beckham inside and play Lennon on the wing. Owen and Rooney up front (just because I am sick of seeing the big boot all the time to crouch).
Deathside Posted 18 June 2006 Posted 18 June 2006 I'm not bothered who is picked to play - but seeing as england are through already I think Sven should try the 10 formation It's a favourite of mine and seemed to work very well when I played for my primary school team I shall be watching england V Sweden and slupping Absolut vodka - At half time I think I'll listen to some Swedish hardcore
Parsons Posted 18 June 2006 Posted 18 June 2006 with Gerrard, Lamaprd and Crouch on a yellow i would leave them all out Ashley Cole is also doubtful so.... Neville.....Terry.....Ferdinand.....Caragher Beckham.....Carrick.....Hargreaves.....Cole ....................Rooney.....Owen.................... theo to feature for Rooney after 60mins
davieG Posted 18 June 2006 Posted 18 June 2006 with Gerrard, Lamaprd and Crouch on a yellow i would leave them all outAshley Cole is also doubtful so.... Neville.....Terry.....Ferdinand.....Caragher Beckham.....Carrick.....Hargreaves.....Cole ....................Rooney.....Owen.................... theo to feature for Rooney after 60mins You still need a RB as Neville is out.
Parsons Posted 18 June 2006 Posted 18 June 2006 You still need a RB as Neville is out. in that case Caragher on the left and Bridge on the right
Nationwider Posted 19 June 2006 Posted 19 June 2006 ---------------- Robinson ---------------- Carragher - Terry - Ferdinand - A.Cole Lennon -- Beckham - Carrick -- J.Cole ------------- Rooney - Owen ------------ Not ideal, but designed to avoid playing those on yellow cards, and to give others in need of match fitness another run-out. I'd want to introduce Walcott, Downing and Hargreaves at some stage.
Bert Posted 19 June 2006 Posted 19 June 2006 in that case Caragher on the left and Bridge on the right More like the other way round ---------------- Robinson ---------------- Carragher - Terry - Ferdinand - A.Cole Lennon -- Beckham - Carrick -- J.Cole ------------- Rooney - Owen ------------ Not ideal, but designed to avoid playing those on yellow cards, and to give others in need of match fitness another run-out. I'd want to introduce Walcott, Downing and Hargreaves at some stage. Good call, i'd be happy to see that. But i think Ashley Cole is a doubt and Wayne Bridge will play instead.
