Tommeh Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 anyone been to the city centeres to watch England games on the big screens yet? They look wicked on the TV, wish leicester city centre could get their act together and have a massive screen outside JJB or somewhere like that.
Bert Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 They do look wicked, but they cost lot to fund with the actual screen, security guards, policing, food and beverage sellers, we don't really have enough space for that except in a park.
Daggers Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 Yup, I took the kids down to the one in Brum for the T&T game. You could have a peek at the website here It was great, well marshalled, good parking, proper footy food and a massive beer tent. We sat on astroturf, everyone was in a great mood and had a good time. They have a beach too for Cantona to play on apparently, but I haven't gone to that. A shame then that the screen blew away before yesterdays game Apparently they are getting another one in-situ soon, before Sunday hopefully. Totally recommended
Ric Flair Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 Didn't they have quite a hefty screen near JJB in Leicester during the 2002 world cup?
Luke_Leicester_Lad Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Didn't they have quite a hefty screen near JJB in Leicester during the 2002 world cup? Cant remember, but there was a screen there whilst the ashes was on so why not the football?
Ultra Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Cant remember, but there was a screen there whilst the ashes was on so why not the football? Maybe the police weren't keen on the idea, as they didn't want thousands of tanked-up England fans gathered in Humberstone Gate..
syston_fox Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Didn't they have quite a hefty screen near JJB in Leicester during the 2002 world cup? Yeah it was just for the argentina game. It was only there for that game though and I dont think the police enjoyed it coz i remember that most people had had a few and there was a bit of trouble! I remember some bloke bought a football though and everyone started trying to boot it as high as they could...... until it was confiscated!
