I'll borrow that if you don't mind
macbeth Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 I'll borrow that if you don't mind so long as you pay his wages and he gets at least 30 appearances
crazy horse Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 McLaren doing with all his notes, he was writing them up with 5 minutes to go WTF can be so important at that point that he can't remember it. I reckon he was doing Sudoku doing sod all ko ; l
Ricey Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 doing sod all ko ; l Surely he was deciding on penalty takers?
crazy horse Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 Surely he was deciding on penalty takers? hes done a good job then
Ricey Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 hes done a good job then Give the guy a ****ing a chance will you, it wouldn't of been his final decison on penalty takers he would of just been sorting them out with Sven. I can't beileve people are slagging him off for taking notes.

Atleast someone was doing abit of work, because i didnt see Sven writing down any notes or getting up onto the touchline shouting instructions out to the players. Infact he didnt do anything during the match, accept pull some stupid facial expressions.

macbeth Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 So let me get this right, you are slagging off McClaren for working on tactics etc during the game even with 5 minutes to go? football can be compared to great concerts or plays .........all that sort of stuff should have been done at rehearsals ........scribbling notes about penalty takers etc looks pretty much like all the preparation was cr*p
Libertine Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 I reckon McClaren might surprise a few people. All of the players say he's the best coach they've ever worked with, and he might turn out a bit like Taylor, a good coach but give him any money and you're a fool.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 I've never seen any decent managers taking notes or on the phone during a match. Imagine if O'Neill had been doing that.
Daggers Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 no it really is planning tactics /strategies/formations etc. football is like playing 11 games of chess simultaneously these days ; its not just kicking a bag of wind about like it used to be S'right, there's no easy games in international football these days - not like it used to be when we always beat everyone 28-0 and won the World Cup every year, apart from the years we were beating Scotland 28-0 and lifting the Rouse Cup.
Daggers Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 I can't beileve people are slagging him off for taking notes. ...but have you seen the notes - I found them in the bin after the game and they make shocking viewing...
