davieG Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Levein's Unintentional funny OS City Land Arsenal 'Keeper Leicester City have today completed the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor for a one-month loan period. The 23-year-old shot stopper, who faced the Foxes reserves when turning out for the Gunners at Barnet FC on Monday night, goes straight into the Leicester squad to face Championship leaders Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium on Saturday. Taylor is a product of the Arsenal youth system and made 13 first team appearances during the 2002-03 campaign. The former England under 21 'keeper has spent time on loan with Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace and Peterborough in the past and is currently looking to push for a place in the Arsenal first team squad after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury. Taylor arrives at the Walkers Stadium following the news that Ian Walker will be out for at least the next two months with a knee injury. Foxes boss Craig Levein said: "Stuart will be joining us initially on loan for a month. I think everybody knows that we have been very thin on the ground in regards to the goalkeeping position in recent weeks. "He comes straight into the squad for the game against Wigan on Saturday, although whether he starts or not is a different thing. "The one-month period gives us the opportunity to look at Stuart and gives him the chance to find out whether he is comfortable here. I thought that was sensible and it solves our crisis if you like. "He is a young up and coming goalkeeper and I have watched him and found out a lot about him. He is hungary and desperate for first team action. This is a good opportunity for him." Can we read anything into this second statement
Steven Posted 18 November 2004 Author Posted 18 November 2004 Woohooo! Bloody brilliant. Link for anyone who doubts Steven 36968 My source was MB. It says on the OS that ".. he (Taylor) is hungary". Well if he is a country in Eastern Europe he will have no problem blocking up his goal.
Scow Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Excellent news. I'm sure Levein will start him, well I hope he does anyway! :w00t:
Ric Flair Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Brilliant news, I would like to think I influenced this decision with my Realistic Targets thread. If Levein signs another player off there soon i'll know for sure, rumour has it i'll soon be approached to be chief scout.
Oli Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 What a signing, hopefull he will extend his loan at the end of the one month!
Shum Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Comments from Craig Levein... "The one-month period gives us the opportunity to look at Stuart and gives him the chance to find out whether he is comfortable here. I thought that was sensible and it solves our crisis if you like." "He is a young up and coming goalkeeper and I have watched him and found out a lot about him. He is hungry and desperate for first team action. This is a good opportunity for him." SPOT ON IMHO! If that was MA, he would have probably got him til the end of the season and then realised that both parties were not suited to each other a month later.
Guest Daniel Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Micky Adams? He wouldnt of signed him, he aint over 30 is he? If MA was still here, he'd be persuading Peter Shilton to play for us.
Vocal-Legend!! Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 i hear that MA recommended to Peter Bonnetti to Craig...but the cat wanted £80 a week to match his pension!
Ash Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Great News ! I wonder why its only for a month though ?Maybe wants to buy him in the January Transfer market
Cobbo Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Great News ! I wonder why its only for a month though ?Maybe wants to buy him in the January Transfer market 37044 The January transfer window doesn't apply to clubs outside the Premiership! So I doubt that Read the article Ash and you might see the reason we only have him for a month

Ricey Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 Great signing, we need a good keeper until Walker is back and Taylor is a good keeper. Lets hope he does well and he joins us permantley
Steven Posted 18 November 2004 Author Posted 18 November 2004 So Walker is on his way out then whether or not Taylor is his final replacement. I shall be sorry to see him go, but all good things must come to an end. Thanks Ian. :w00t: B)
TrickyTrev Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 lets hope we can make this permanent, we could have a goal keeper for the next decade here and we may actually get some money for Walker to spend on a new midfielder.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 18 November 2004 Posted 18 November 2004 good luck to him, i hope he doesnt have a dodgy back...
