Guilty Pleasures

Recommended Posts

Over the past few days I've had two songs in my head by bands I despise and it's starting to dawn on me I actually quite like them (the songs, not anything else by these bands).

Any other guilty pleasures lurking out there? Embrace them. Perhaps even embrace Embrace, they're fairly turgid.

For your information the songs are Is It Any Wonder by Keane and Come Fill My World by The Feeling. Normally they embody everything I hate about music but they're so darn catchy.

Come in droves and splash around in my pool of sonic nastiness.

Ah Fezz. It's coming:- the musical equivalent of middle-age spread.

Strangely, I have been enjoying both those records recently as well. I recently made myself a compilation for the car with Roxette "Fading Like A Flower" on it.

I have no shame these days. I now see that Stock Aitkien & Waterman was the most important ever musical movement in this country.

I'm in your pool of sonic nastiness....and the water's warm!

The Feeling have someone protruded in to my head in a most unwelcome fashion, premeated the membrane which usually prevents this kind of tripe from entering my consciousness and become wedged there.

It's the kind of song my girlfriend likes and then says 'it's strange cos I don't usually like rock music'.

What the fu ck?

Come on THE FEELING.. get on the bonfire lads. There's space there between the Corrs and Shania Twain. I've hummed the tracks which all three of you have been responsible for in the past and now you're going to pay for it.

ELO are the only CD the whole car will sing to when we go to Kent.

We haven't tried driving anywhere else to see if other bands suit us better.

For driving it'll have to be a couple of Global Underground CD's

Start of with Tony de Vit in Hong Kong then onto Sasha in Ibiza and finally Deep Dish in Toronto

.........if it's a long journey I'll stick in Dave Seaman in Prague!!

The Best of ELO was a recent birthday gift of mine.

By almost unbelieveable cosmic coincidence, I was recently invited to go to Tonbridge Wells. (Not for a civic function, school fete opening etc - just a wedding.) I couldn't go - but if I knew then what I know now, I certainly would have gone, just for the music.
