Mark De Vries

Hearts boss John Robertson admits only Mark de Vries knows whether he will still be at the club next season after he was linked with Leicester.

Robertson knows full well that a number of other managers covet the striker, including the man who brought him to Tynecastle in the first place, new Leicester manager Craig Levein.

The Dutchman is one of a number of first-team regulars whose contracts expire in the summer.

Alan Maybury, Phil Stamp and skipper Steven Pressley are three others whose contracts need renewing.

These could be good signings for the foxes. I predict that at the end of the season there could be a mass exodus of the older generation of players at the end of the season. And these could be some players that would replace them and Levein could also bring up some players from the youth system.

We'll take him, got to be better than Connolly. :)

No to De Vries and Phil Stamp (he's that fat lad who used to play for Middlesbrough :angry: )

I wouldnt say no to Maybury and Pressley though.

CL has said he knows he has to sign 8 new players and some will be from Hearts. MDV and Mayb's are candidates but Hearts offer European football so the players might not leave.

An interview he done in the Scottish Sun.

"I know right now we need to bring eight in. It's no secret I'd like some of them to come from Hearts."

He might not get any of the Hearts players although he would like them. As I said, Hearts have European football to offer and Edinburgh is s good place to live.

He's putting the players through their training during the interview and says " See? Typical footballers. Give them something new to do and they always keep something back until they know if it gets any harder or not. Takes a while to get their best." He's putting the players through the same training schedule until he thinks it's good enough.

Phil Stamp - he's crap. I would hate to see him being signed by CL - he's no better than Gudjonsson and would rank alongside Gemmill in being another pointless signing.

I've seen Mark De Vries play against Basel on TV. Man, he's a tall guy. 6 feet or something?:)

Well, if we continue play with long/high-flying crosses, he's the one to get them before the opposing defenders can clear.

But personally, I'd like to see him play together with Connolly, just like Hartson and Kitson used to do...:)

You all presume that Levein will get the cream of the crop of top players from Hearts , whats to say they dont have other options other than Leicester these players mentioned will want the best deal , not just because craig was their former gaffer.

That's true but what Hearts need to realise is that English football is more appealing than Scottish football and if their old manager is also at a club that potentially isn't far off the premiership then that might be a good enough factor for them to come to us. We can offer more wages than you aswell more than likely, it's a shame I know as your city is amazing and ours isn't but we are bigger than you and possibly always will be.

De Vries and Maybury for me.

English Premiership football is more appealing. If Leicester are promoted this year then there is a good chance they will take the best Hearts players.

MDV will stay at Hearts if he is offered the money he wants. Maybury loves living in Edinburgh and is in no rush no leave. According to them, reading their interviews.

You might be right, but footballers make strange decisions. Personally if I was at a club that I loved and the area I lived in was brilliant and my personal life was spot on, etc I wouldn't want to move but you see some people in football make strange decisions. For example Peter Houston and Kenny Black coming down to Leicester, just leaving their whole life behind in Scotland just to come down and be a coach at a club like Leicester, it's weird. Footballers are driven by money and challenges I suppose, if De Vries and Maybury want a new challenge and want to test themselves in England then I think we as good a club as any.

I doubt they'd get a top premiership club and often players from scotland are happy to come to a club in the championship. I think under Levein we'll get back in the premiership either this season or next and i'm sure De Vries and Maybury would buy in to that, especially as they know how Levein works. I would imagine if there were several clubs of similar size after these two including ourselves they'd come to us. We can still offer larger wages than most championship teams and that would give us a better chance than most to sign some of your players.

What's that Periera like?

Periera is quite mad. We've not seen enough of him but he is always in the middle of bother, He looks a good footballer though but as I said, we have not seen enough of him. He wants to go fighting with oponents, refs, linesmen, his own players, the guy is crazy.

If Levein had the choice of any of our players and they were willing to go with him, I think he would take Maybury, Pressley, Webster, MDV and Gordon.

Webster would be up for the challenge if Leicester are willing to pay.

Gordon might be in a couple of years, I'd be surprised if he left now.

MDV? He's always on the move 50/50. He'd love a shot in the Premiership but he is now about 30 and maybe he has missed out. Another year in the Championship might be too much of a wait and he'll stay for the Euro games.

Pressley is quite loyal and happy were he is.

Maybury? He says he is happy but can we afford to keep him? I don't know. Robbo is looking to buy a right back so maybe that tells you something.

theres no chance you'll get gordon.he's scotlands number 1 now,has some talent, wont leave the now anyway but if he did i think it would be directly into the premiership. incidentally, pereira was terrific for hearts today,a great player.hope levein doesnt nick all our best players.i do believe mark de vires will be a leicester player in january, IF we get knocked out of europe.thats still up in the air,if we get through he'll stay and leave at the end of the season.

What's Paddy Kisnorbo like these days? He always looked a good defender for South Melbourne when he was in Australia, I hear he's playing as a defensive mid now.

Posted

Paddy is doing ok. He is playing as a def mid. He played left back for most of last season as Hearts never had one but he never looked comfortable there. He doing well now though, playing in fronyt of our center backs. He's got good energy and works hard.

He puts in a good shift and this frees the more creative players like Hammil, Ramon, Hartley and Wyness so they can do there thing.
