Ash Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 Should he walk back straight back into the starting eleven versus Leeds at the weekend or would you try somthing new ?
Ric Flair Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 Joey has disappointed me this season. I was over the moon when we signed him as I was under the impression he was a brilliant player. He has got the ability but he hasn't really shown it yet, neither have alot of ours players as they were playing for a twat earlier in the season. The one thing I like about Joey is he is the type of midfielder we desperately need, he just needs to step up a gear and he'll be influential for us. Not seen much of his lethal shot he has and his passing has been wild at times. He gets stuck in though, which is what we need at this level and he would get a starting place from me on that basis alone. Although watching Dawson a few times in pre-season and in the reserves I think he looks like that type of midfielder we need and he has impressed me more than the Ice Man. It's good to have both though and I hope both of them get the chance to play well for Citeh.
SarbannesFoxley Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 Mate I saw him against Gillingham away and he was awesome - all over the shop. Straight back in I think. I think its him and Nalis or Williams in the centre.

Where as Williams has returned from injury , and impressed alot in the 45minutes he played
Benji Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 do what we did second half nalis left and williams joey in centre? i know they got a bit confused a few times down the left when it came to defending but the advantages of the quality crosses from the left will be great
Guest Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 I've been disappointed with Gudjonsson; you see glimmers of what he is capable of, but he has failed to be consistent this season. Whether this is down to the player, or the system they have been playing I don't know. I'm hoping it's the latter, because with a new manager in, it's more easily sorted.
Scow Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 I just think that Gudjonsson is far too rash and lacks composure. His passing and tackling is naive at times, and his shooting is generally wasteful. Maybe this division is too physical for him, he obviously gets pushed off the ball quite easily and this seemingly disrupts his play.

Guest Daniel Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 Im a big fan of Joey & Nalis. Cant be doing with Ash ranting and raving about the ex tree whos done absaloutly nothing so far, missed a few sitters, thats about it.
filbertway Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 left to right tiatto------gudjonsson-----williams----gillespie/canero
TrickyTrev Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 Joey has a reasonable attitude but is not good enough. His passing is to be honest league 1 or two standard, I don't think I have seenhim weight a ball yet. He either hits, and I mean hits, his man or he doesn't. His shooting is a joke, peol,e don't realise that if any player hit the ball has hard as they could eveytime they were 30 yrds out they would occasionally catch one good, I have yet to see anything that sugegsts he has any levl of consistency over where the ballis going. In the end it is more wateful than productive He does tackle hard and track back but is not pohysical enough to be our midfield boos or anchorman, definately one I would look to move on in January or whenever we can get a .
Anish Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 I think he has been mediocre so far this season, so shouldn't walk straight back into the team. I don't think we should get rid of him though, as he is a player that could be here for 2 years or more if he plays well. He has youth on his side and probably needs to get a good run of games before we see him at his best (like Gillespie). But I wouldn't throw him back into the team though.
Scow Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 I think Tiatto would do a better job in the centre than Joey, but then we lose something from the left flank. However, If Morris sorts himself out, then a combination of Tiatto and Williams/Nalis in the centre could work quite well.
Sparky Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 my first choice midfield would be tiatto ......williams.....gudjohnson.....gilespie give dawson a game every now and again and use nalis as cover
Muz Posted 1 December 2004 Posted 1 December 2004 I like joey his passing is not upto scratch though. But his effort and the way he tackles and picks up the ball is good. Id play him and Williams.Nalis as also been givng the ball away alot in the last few games
Ricey Posted 2 December 2004 Posted 2 December 2004 Gudjonsson works very very hard however he reminds me of a little 10 year old the way he gets knocked over all the time. He needs to toughen up and adjust to this division. At times his passing has looked great but at other times it has looked below standard, I'm confident that will improve though. I said last season to give Nalis to adjust and improve, now look at him! He has been one of our best players this year. I wiould say the same about Joey, give the lad time because the determination and skill is clearly there.
